Hi there

This is the update from Asus:

1080 Strix: 98pc today, 1080 Strix OC customers can switch to this for same price and have their card by tomorrow or Monday.

1080 Strix Gamer OC: This card is overclocked but not quite as much as the original Strix OC, but in gaming performance it will boost to the original quoted OC speeds and higher so real world performance is un-changed. Asus can give us Europes entire allocation on the basis 200 customers are happy to switch over to this card at the same price, SO PLEASE VOTE YES OR NO

1080 Strix OC: There are 33 units in transit to ourselves, but they seem to be in a black hole, hopefully they shall be with us next week, so those who are in the first 33 in the queue, you should wait. Asus could not give a date for further shipments on the OC.

So please vote yes or no if you are happy to switch to the Gamer for same price as you paid for OC. Do not call us yet to action this change, for now just vote, Asus wish to see the amount of people on the forum first. We shall then email all the customers as we suspect a very small percentage of customer for the Asus Strix OC are actually forum members.

We are doing our best to give customers options instead of just having you wait for potentially several more weeks, of course we are also happy for customers to wait if they are happy to do so as we shall honour the original pre-orders no matter how long it takes Asus to ship stock.

Lol they offereing you the a card 2 models lower for same money.

Why on earth would you take it

Gaming is 1 model lower, Strix none OC is two models lower. All three cards however are identical, only clocks different.

Were giving customers options, that is what I call great service, of course those who wish to wait for the OC can do so and will have their order honoured at original price.

So why is asus doing this ?
Are you suggesting that the cards with the lower clocks out of the box wont reach as high as those OC ones if you try to overclock them?

If yes, than that's not really desirable right ?
If no, then I don't see a reason why OC version costs +100£ if you can just buy a nonOC one, save 100£, flash bios from OC one and profit ?

That's interesting..

OC is not guaranteed, they are un-tested so it could be a case of both yes and no, overclocking is never a guarantee.

GX-409-AS STRIX GAMER is now in stock, it is identical to the OC card, slightly lower clocks though out of the box it is boosting to OC clocks anyway.

Call us if you wish to swap over to this card at the same price as you paid for OC.

This card is hidden online as were only allowing OC customers to get their hands on this SKU.

If it's boosting to the same as the OC, why is the OC called an "unrealistic clock speed" in the email that was sent out? That makes no sense.

Can you be straight with us gibbo. Is this OC actually coming or is it going to be canned?

We had 33pc of OC arrive yesterday, that puts at nearly 60 total delivered so far. The yield on the cards with 1900+ boost is very poor, Gigabyte Extreme has also being very small numbers.

But they will arrive but there is no idea when and how many, whereas the Gamer we have 200 of those and in real world the gaming FPS difference between a Gamer and an OC is within 1-2% of each other.

Not according to nvidia:

"Nvidia will sell the cards directly through its own website and won’t be allowing partners to build and sell their own variations."

I amended my post as you were quoting me. Indeed correct and it is looking like very low supply. Still no idea on price mind, but definitely have the wallet prepared. :D

Yeah so I don't quite get why Asus can't get enough chips sorted.

I know the CEO of Zotac, as such I get a good percentage of the world wide allocation, so though they have probably not made any more volume than Asus, OcUK has pretty much had 25% of Zotac's world allocation. Whereas Asus share out stock a lot more across the world.

When your personal friends with a lot of CEO's from some of these big companies or should we say good whisky drinking buddies, it can go a long way to winning more stock. :)
