Personally I never had a problem with either City Link or DHL but then I usually get most things delivered to my office...which is in Central London.

I wondered why a DPD van pulled outside my house this morning.

My boxes came in perfect condition and the delivery man was nice and friendly.

I work in Gibraltar and a lot of the guys at work order via Overclockers. Since DHL have been doing it everyone has had problems with massive delays or orders going walkies.

So this is a very welcome change

tbh, I'm deffinatly getting my parts from here now, I've had a bad experience with Drop it Hit it Leave it. When I was waiting for my laptop to arrive I saw the shabby delivery guy holding the package in one arm and straining the package bag it was in a swinging it at his side and almost dropping it.

Another case was them just leaving a few packages of mine outside in the pouring rain.

Anything is better than them.
City Link, Royal Mail, Home Delivery Network I've never had problems with these guys I've heard are HDN and are quite good.

Never had any problems with City link or Royal mail. When i recieved my PC parts from DHL he didnt even had an uniform or van.

Had my contract phone delivered by DPD. They were very good. Arrived around 10am both times. However, when i first got my phone was faulty so the company i was with did a collection. They did come on the day at an earl 7:30am .

Only problem i would say was when they delivered phone we were out. And they had left a not describing where they had hid the phone ' behind the bins'. They had put the phones in a thick DPD plastic security bag (one of those stickers that change when opened).

But it does state clearly to allow 48 hours for the system to be built. So really, its next day - Once its built.

EDIT - Until I realised they still won't do next day to the "Highlands". I despair with courier companies in this country. Most are utterly pathetic. Citylink never failed to get a delivery to me next day, even when ordering right up to the cut off point. How any respectable courier company can't do a next day service to what is still the mainland, I have no idea.

I see a few others from Northern Ireland here, the nearest depot in the list in is Dublin! Don't fancy missing that delivery! At least citylink was reasonably local!

For people that are concerned about missing there delivery DPD will drop a card off for you. Card B http://www.dpd.co.uk/shipping/arrange_re-delivery.htm

You have four options available to you :-

1) Upgrade delivery - You can contact DPD and up grade to a premium servive i.e AM service or Saturday service.

2) Change Delivery - You can change the delivery address for your order so it goes to an alternative address.

3) Collect From Depot - As it says you can arrange to collect form your local depot

4) Leave in A Safe Place - As it says you can arrange to have left in your porch, garage or shed or with a neighbour.

Also all DPD drivers are tracked by GPS so if theysay they are going to be there they will be.

Tbh these threads are always the same. When ocuk moved from citylink to DHL people cried out in praise and people slated citylink. Now DHL take the hit and DPD get the praise. At the end of the day most people who post on a thread like this are people who have had an issue and have a way to get it out of their system. Every delivery company will have problems, granted some more than others, you're just the unlucky few if you do. And i guarantee were ocuk to ever change again then it would be the same - people slating DPD.

got to say i was getting worried yesterday waiting about.....phoned there inquiry line and the woman spoke to the driver while i held and gave me a time of delivery, i still had taken the day ff though as i couldnt check where the depot was and i didnt fancy a drive after work.
its a shame about DHL as ive never had a problem and the local depot is 2 mins walk.

Expecting a delivery tomorrow...Will be hard to out do city link, driver used to be here by 7.30am everytime. I just hate waiting around when I can't wait to get my hands on my stuff
