Our buddies at EK Water Blocks are about to launch a really impressive new bit of kit.

AIO coolers are great, but this thing is made by people who know watercooling inside out. Needless to say, they are going to be very sought after.



EK-Predator is pre-filled and pre-assembled CPU liquid cooling unit. It comes in two different versions; 240mm and 360mm and provides extreme cooling performance unseen in the AIO segment so far.

It also uses EK-Vardar high static pressure fans in combination with PWM controls to provide minimal noise footprint which is a common issue for existing AIO users.



Since EK-Predator uses industry standard G1/4 threaded ports and 10/16 mm Zero Maintenance rubber tubing (EK-ZMT) it is fully expandable with all custom loop gear available on the market.

Furthermore Predator 360 will feature integrated Quick Disconnects (QDC), special connectors that allow quick and tool-less expansion of the system without the need for draining of the unit. This allows users to add, for example, a prefilled QDC-enabled GPU water block. EKWB will offer such custom add-ons at the release date of Predator 360.

Each Predator comes from the factory with their own ZMT Rubber tubing which looks great and has a stealthy look. We carefully disassemble the stock Predator cooler and remove the tubing. We replace this opaque black tubing with industry leading Primochill LRT tubing which is considered by many watercooling enthusiasts as the very best there is. The Primochill LRT tubing has exceptional clarity and whilst it doesn't have the same bend radius as the stock tubing [this may not be ideal in very confined cases], the overall appearance of the Predator cooler is vastly improved and will fit in well with your colour scheme using our huge range of coolant options from Mayhems coolants.

Please note that the bend radius of the clear tubing used in this cooler is not as tight as the stock tubing. Please ensure your system has ample space for installation and that there are no kinks in the tubing when the block is installed.

the QDC is basically there so you can add a GPU to the loop easily. I will agree though, its not the best looking thing ive ever seen.

Once i have got my hands on one and got confirmation of how it works and done some testing, we will be offering ocuk tech labs versions too.

not sure yet, will have to see what I can do to make them unique or worth modifying.

Was thinking of clear tubing and a range of coolant types to start with.

Ideally we will just buy Predators from EK to sell to end users and then buy the rad pump combos to make our own all in one coolers to save money and also save wasting tubing etc. perhaps we will offer an upgraded block or include the option of a watercooled Graphics card in the loop or something.

I need to do some testing first really.

Its a lovely looking product, if it can get near to matching the top end air coolers in terms of noise then I would be very tempted indeed. Is there an advance view of the fpi on the rad?

Looks like a copy of something else ive seen. Trying to think, the rad was copper fins and silver shroud, and could be had with a pump option built in and flow meter.

Edit: Found it Aquacomputer airplex modularity.

the the airplex is an ok product but the performance of the rad was average really and they are eye wateringly expensive.

i think the point of the QDC is for people who dont know what theyre doing so much.

if you only plan on cooling your cpu then you would just get the 240

if you plan on including your vga at a later point and dont want the qdc then you would probably be adept enough to just replace the tubes with clear stuff anyway and do a semi custom loop or whatever.

guessing that is the thought behind it anyway.


also you have to remember they are clearly trying to hit a price point to be competitive.
a DDC and a proper rad cost a lot
as does a good CPU block

so adding £20 worth of QDC fittings to their costs is just going to hike the cost of the unit up.

120mm is still the standard with most 140mm cases still offering a 120mm mount also

Watercooling radiators are nearly all 120mm, we sell perhaps 15:1 against 140mm standard rads.

You have to remember also that a 120mm radiator from a proper watercooling manufacturer will easily outperform a 140mm radiator attached to a bog standard AIO cooler.

you can't have 2 pumps in a single loop.

you can, dual pumps isnt common these days with the inclusion of failsafe settings on motherboards, tacho readouts on pumps and smart controllers like the aquaero.
but you dont need that. you may as well just have a predator unit, then include another radiator into the loop if you need one.

the single DDC pump will be enough to include another rad and a graphics card with ease.

Predator cooling performance comparison!

We have announced our new EK-XLC Predator product line last week. Predator is pre-filled and pre-assembled CPU liquid cooling unit that will come in two different versions; 240mm and 360mm and provides extreme cooling performance unseen in the AIO segment so far. If you missed the big news, you can read it here. Today we are giving you a sneak peak into cooling performance of the upcoming Predator 240 and Predator 360.

We have tested a wide range of the most popular AIOs on the market. Since both units (Predator 240 and 360) will only be available for Intel CPU sockets, we have tested the following two models; Intel® Core® i7 5960X (2011-3 socket) and Intel® Core® i7 4770K (1150 socket). Here are the comparison graphs for average temperatures we achieved with different AIOs. We are comparing them by their radiator size and we measure Delta T (ΔT) that represents the difference between ambient room temperature and the CPU core temperature.



Intel® Core® i7 5960X (2011-3)

Intel® Core® i7 5960X (2011-3), with a base clock of 3.0GHz, was our pick in the high-end desktop processor segment. While many users with AIOs still run their CPUs at stock frequencies, we overclocked our 5960X to 4.4GHz at 1.15V to really get a true insight into the cooler's performance. As we can see above, the size of the radiator plays an important part in keeping the chip cool. Predator 240 comes out as a winner in the category of 240mm radiators, mainly due to the superior design of the Supremacy MX water block. Full copper radiator also helps in efficient heat dissipation, whereas the majority of other models have an aluminium radiator core. If you plan on cooling down only your CPU with the emphasis on overclocking, Predator 240 proves itself as an excellent choice and has enough overhead for adding another GPU water block into the loop.



Intel® Core® i7 4770K (1150)

Intel® Core® i7 4770K (1150) runs at 3.5GHz stock and like with the 5960X, we overclocked it to really stretch the muscles of the tested AIOs. 4.5GHz at 1.23V was the overclocked frequency. In the 240mm radiator category, Predator 240 beats the competition by a 4-5°C due to Supremacy MX water block which is much more optimized for the platform. Moving into 360mm radiator segment, Predator 360 is a clear overall winner with 48,32°C ΔT. Keep in mind that both units are fully expendable and you can always add additional blocks, radiators and even external reservoirs to the loop.
