Just putting it into perspective...

hmmm - joking aside it is a few hundred quid and would go a long way in rural India or Nepal.

Anyway back onto the Gurkhas - 'Better to die than to be a coward' is their regimental motto (in the UK at least) - not sure if this is still the case with the Indian army regiments but it certainly seems to be applicable to the mindset of this guy.... they are awesome soldiers tbh...

Hear, their, everyware ;)
I read it, and I can't help but see this scene happening in my (Somewhat vivid) imagination, he starts fighting on the train then it all turns into a Bollywood Musical where they're all singing and dancing and the bandits are thrown off the train in true Bollywood fashion.

but not jailed.

If there comes a day where you can stab people with only your word and not be arrested i think I'll be leaving.

Nail, Head.

Anyone in here that thinks it is wrong for the police to arrest/detain (depending on country in UK) a person that has just killed or assaulted someone else regardless of the circumstances needs to have a good think.

Correct, they are usually fewer and are avert to rape.

however, they will occasionally rape the odd passenger (admittedly they take them out of the train first):

EDIT: If this had happened in UK no one would have batted an eyelid and they would have carried on tapping on their laptops/smartphones etc. ignoring the attack. Perhaps even video it and upload it on youtube/facebook while tweeting as it happens.

Clicked on the first 4 links, and I'm surprised such things happen on the busy underground trains for so long. I guess it is difficult to catch them.

I'm also surprised by how small their sentence is. Given that one gang had been robbing people for months and involved beating, threatening, and stabbing, their 5 year sentence seems pretty insignificant. I doubt they would come out of prison as reformed people.

Gurkhas are best known for their history of bravery and strength in the Indian Army's Gorkha regiments and the British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas. The Gurkhas were designated by British officials as a "Martial Race". "Martial Race" was a designation created by officials of British India to describe "races" (peoples) that were thought to be naturally warlike and aggressive in battle, and to possess qualities of courage, loyalty, self sufficiency, physical strength, resilience, orderliness, the ability to work hard for long periods of time, fighting tenacity and military strategy. The British recruited heavily from these Martial Races for service in the British Indian Army.

Evolution designed them so.....
