Not in the slightest. They still of the desktop market.

It is not a portable os. It is an everything os. That is very different.

The trouble is the mobile market is almost twice as large as the desktop market, so although they still of the desktop market Ms have been on a massive decline in recent years. The desktop market is continuing to slow, where mobile market is continuing to expo tidally increase, the other thing is the gap between these different devices are shrinking and getting very blurred.

mS have done the right thing, people just expect the success to be over night, it never was going to be that easy. But they are seeing decent growth in key areas like phones.
Tablets have been a disaster, as there just haven't been any in shops.

mS is to blame for not putting surface in shops from the start and oem are to blame for even now, not having any realy units out there. With no sign of any mass market tablets coming in the next few months. It's looking like its going to be at least 6months after the launch till we see a decent range of tablets available to buy.

They have kept their current use base happy. That is industry. Industry hardly ever upgrade straight away, they have to do compatibility testing, put cases to get her etc, which takes years. So industry will stay in 7 which most have only just upgraded to.
Companies like Bt that have a large mobile workforce however have seen the benefits and put a huge order for Surfaces in.

So no, there current user base, isn't unhappy. Just a few people who think they are power users, getting unhappy, which is the case for every os.

Again go read up on XP release and the moaning and massive petitions that went on, back then. Sound familiar?
