I get around 300 miles from £55 of SUL so it would cost me somewhere around £100.

I'd probably get a lot more miles if I did 70mph like Fox's example but I doubt I'd last more than 5 mins before going to sleep at that speed.

Educated guess of 70, doesn't really seem to make a whole lot of difference if I dawdle or hoon it in my car, only thing which noticably kills the mpg is stop-start city driving.

At christmas, we drove from Aylesbury (Bucks) to Inverness in a Getz 1.1 - it was a new car and was very good on petrol. The journey was exactly 545 miles and we used just over a tank and a half to do it. We were looking at £60-70.

Oh, and we were going around 80-90mph for the majority of the journey.

fiesta 1.25 if i drive keeping under 4000rpm (70mph is 4000rpm) i can get roughly 280 per tank (45litres)
Is that on 5th gear?

I had that same car and 70mph was on 3500 rpm. Because I know 80mph was on 4000 and 100mph on 5000rpm!

I used to average of around 41mpg on A/B main roads which is actually good.
