Hello All I would like to replace my old build which is now about 12 years,

I am a non gamer ..Looking for something for mostly work related - Programming, watching movies and music

Items from the old build

1. Asus P8Z77-V LX Z77 Mobo
2 . Intel corei5 3570k
3 Kingston 120gb hyperx 3k ssd
4 8gb DDRRAM
5 C Master Elite 450 Black case
6 A/cooling freezer 7 pro v2

I am hoping that I can replace the motherboard and processor and reuse the rest ( if possible)

Please suggest a MB and Processor - My Bugdet is about £500

Many thanks

Hi and welcome.

You will need memory also but what's your main use ? E.g gaming

A 12 year old power supply is risking it what is your model , and will you be using onboard graphics ?

A bonus .. I have pci wifi card ... and doing office stuff .. most hard task would be a bit of programming and trading
You can build a whole new pc for less than £500 and sell your old one

AMD build with onboard graphics, WiFi and 1tb m2 SSD plus scope in budget to up spec

My basket at OcUK:

Hi thanks for this can you recommend at least an i5 processor thanks
The i5-12400 (with integrated graphics) is £175 and that is not an acceptable price, in my opinion.

The i5-13400 is £230 and again, I think that price is too high for your usage.

Hi what do you mean by -F CPU .. most of mbs dont have integrated graphics cards
I'm not sure what you're asking?

To use the motherboard for display, you need a CPU that has integrated graphics.

The -F CPUs do not have any graphics, so the motherboard would have no display.

Thanks that cleared it up -- So you recommend that I stick to this one to the i3-12100 cause it is a fair price and has an integrated cpu

Yes, I wouldn't pay £175 for the 12400, since I don't think 2 extra cores is worth that, unless you're very confident you will make use of them.

The 12600K has seen recent discounts of around £170-£180 and I'd consider paying that, but again, only if you have a need for it.

The 12100 might be an i3, but it has excellent performance that beats most previous i3 and i5 CPUs.

Slightly over budget, you could change hard drive to a 1tb option which should bring it in budget. The 7600 CPU comes with cooler and has integrated graphics which will be good enough for your needs. Also gives you the latest processor and should easily last you another 12 years.
