Nah, I wouldnt be that pessimistic;) I recon, Kepler will be +25% performance

You think they'll release with a card that's 25% more powerful than 7970? Lol, where is it then?! It hasn't even been announced yet, that was meant to be at CES at the beginning of January. It'll be 5%, and no more than 10% more powerful. By this time I hope AMD release the 7980 ;)

The fact they haven't dropped their prices is incredibly arrogant IMO.

Lol, AMD are a massive international business, who sell to more than just the enthusiast sector. The fact you find their pricing "arrogant" shows that you don't know how the industry works, and simply base their incorrect pricing on your own preference :p Made my day that has :D

but the vast majority of buyers do not overclock anyway.

Another broad statement  Everyone I know who owns a 7970 has overclocked it. Nearly all will overclock by a minimum of 100mhz, almost all will overclock by 200mhz, beating out a 580 by upto 50%.

The ref 7970 is very much an underclocked card at stock, yet still is light years ahead in terms of tessellation and power consumption, and when overclocked is simply in another league.

When Nvidia finally release their 28nm product, expect to see non reference 7970's running crazy clocks go on sale to counter Nvidia, with the possibility of a 2308 core 7980.

Err....think he was talking about Nvidia :D

Yes lol, but the same applies to his logic on Nvidia's pricing.

Cheapest 580 2gb on OcUK today, £407.99, how old is this tech? At least with the similarly priced 7970 you're getting something head and shoulders better.

The prices of 7970's and 7950's are right imo, the top tier have always been priced this way.
