Have the S21 at the mo and skipped the S22, seemed a bit of a backwards step.

Think I'll take a look at the base S23. Hoping we get some half decent trade in/pre-order deals

Its needs to be really good for £800, the Pixel 7 is down to £450-£500 (with specific time limited special deals)

I didn't know that phones could go up to 1TB now.

My S20U is 128GB (all visible) + 128GB SD (117GB visible), so presumably with SD no longer being relevant, a 256GB S23U would be my sweet spot. I'll wait for a couple of months i.e. April after the early birds like I did with the S20U. I can probably get a staff discount.

What are examples of trade-in web sites these days? Music Magpie gave me the best rate for my Note 4, but CEX was best for my S8 Plus a few years later.

If it is around £1,500 for the ultra, I'd need a decent trade in for my s21u to buy it and maybe some headphones.
Might be a no go and have to swap manufacturer.

I'm not sure if you clicked the link or not, but £1,500 is the top 1tb version (if it is indeed a direct dollars to pound conversion):

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage: US$1,249
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: 12 GB RAM/512 GB storage: US$1,349
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra 12 GB RAM/1 TB storage: US$1,499

And a breakdown of the new sensor:

Super QPD is really interesting, that's mirrorless full frame camera focusing tech where every pixel of the sensor is used as AF points. That explains the previous rumour that the S23 Ultra solves the focusing problem that Samsung phones have had in low light for a while now.
