Vinyl Collection - Options ?

Its been nearly a year since my mum passed, and I am finally at the point where the sale of her property is going through.

Whilst getting the house cleared and ready, I have come across a decent sized collection of Vinyl music. The collection is quite varied, and I would guess ranges from the mid 60`s to early 80`s
Just skimming quickly skimming through, I have seen Dr Hook, ELO, Carpenters, Meat Loaf, Hermans Hermits, Leo Sayer, Barry Manilow, Brotherhood of Man etc. And they are just what I can remember.

Question is, what to do with them?
I don`t want the collection. I have no turntable anymore, and I don`t want them in a box in the loft.
Not sure I really want to Individually catalogue and sell them.

Is there still a market for this kind of material? Does it have any reasonable value?

Suggestions welcome.

Check discogs for a rough idea of value.

We have a couple of 2nd hand record stores in my town, take them there they may be interested or donate to a charity shop as someone will always by vinyl

Tried 2 local shops, and neither are interested. The content is not what they are looking for.

I will try and find a suitable local charity shop.

Boot Sale. The one I attend gets a lot of interest when I put records on our stall.

MOR music has little or no value. Specialist music can have high value especially if rare. Put them in your boot, take them to a record fare and speak to the dealers who may offer you a few £.

you could put them on the likes of Facebook marketplace / Nextdoor / Gumtree etc as a job lot and try to make a few quid, or mark as free to shift them even quicker.
you could also try ebay again as a job lot but mark it as collection only

Oh, that's a shame. I always think of my brother when anyone mentions this sort of thing as he does records and would have had them from you but it's a bit far.

Vinyl has made a comeback lately and there's definitely a market for certain genres. But the stuff that falls into the pop / easy listening / MOR category isn't likely to be very marketable as these records were sold in their millions back in the day.

The stuff that sells well tends to be things that are niche, rare, early editions, have extras (like printed booklets etc) or were hard to obtain even when new.

Your problem with selling low value vinyl online is always going to be the postage aspect, which in many cases will be more than the item is worth. So unless you have some gems hidden amongst the pop stuff (it's absolutely worth checking) then it's probably not worth it, charity shop time.

Just check thr matrix numbers. If anything comes back over 50 quid sell it. If not just bin it.

Appreciate the interest. We are approaching some kind of closure, as we have agreed on a buyer for the house. Next time I am over, I will have a proper count up.
