you could try 125 strap and 2000mhz RAM speed with similar timings.

4.5GHz and it crashes on the physics benchmark of 2011. Maybe heat, My H50 cooler idles at about 40c with 1.4Vcore @ 4.5GHz.

4.37GHz and it seems ok! memory9-9-9-24-1-4374ghz

I tried upping the blk, but even slight changes meant loosening timings.

Suggestions on where to go next? thanks :)

The machines stable alright! The reason I asked was incase their were a preferred Bios that people in the know tend to use with this board.

Thanks for the guide 8pack. I have a 3930k system. I have stable OCs with 4.4, 4.5 and 4.7 GHz but I have done this only using the multiplier at 100 BCLK and 2133 (slight OC) on my G Skill Ripjaws Z Ram (not tight timings).

Is there any benefit in overclocking using BCLK over just doing it the way I have done? Am I likely to be able to achieve higher clocks on CPU and memory?

Nice one 8Pack

I was able to use this thread to get a hang of some parameters that totally mystified me.

The ROG guide by Raja is very good also but a bit daunting in certain areas.

Also, using 10,12,12,24,1T,96 @ 2400 (XMP-9,11,11,31,2T,214 @2400) on my "Dom Plats" increased my 3D11 score by over 500 points..........I know, not a record, and the numbers are still mystifying but, at last I have been able to influence my setup without just simply trying to raise the dram MHz.....which usually stops the system booting anyway.

Excellent stuff.

Hello all . Im new here , and i am the proud owner of my new custom made desktop , it is a big jump up from my m18x that had dual gtx680m sli and a i73940xm oc @ 4.4 stable.

basic specs of my desktop :
i73970x (hoping for oc 4.8ghz)
H110 with viper fans in push pull
dual gtx780 sli
g skill 16gb 2,400mhz
2 x sdd 480gb raid 0 & 1tb hdd raid 5

I would really like some help overclocking this new machine hopefully to 4.8GHZ if possible ?

I have tried this method here
http://www.overclock.net/t/1271026/ocn-net-asus-rampage-iv-extreme-overclocking-guide

@4.7 on all 6 cores , but it seemed to hotter than it should , i was only able to get my volts down to 1.350 before BSOD and using this way im not able to use the extra speed i have in my ram ,ie it only lets me use 1,600mgz not the 2,400mhz i have

I like the look of the different way this overclock is done and i wish i understood it better so i could start teaking it now ... but my trouble is i understand what to do up to the point you move to the seconed screen shot and start talking about blk skew and then you show 3 diffrent sets of numbers ie -2 and -20 or -3 and -30 ..but you dont show how i would write this in to the box ..maybe like this " -2-20" ? and which i should use for the 4.8 im aiming for.

and then as i move further down you second screen shot should i just be copying your numbers you have inputed on the screen shot ?

would it be possible for any body in the know to give me some figures to start with and some pointer as to which way to adjust them for best results . I would be very greatfull for any help with this .

Thanks to all

My system doesn't like BCLK overclocking at all so I have left it at multiplier OC and manual memory OC and it runs perfectly.

I can get to 4.9GHz @1.4V but my limit is heat rather than anything else despite a custom loop. I get around 75C peak temps. My 24/7 OC is 4.4GHz with max temps of 60-65C.

I think you are going to struggle to get a stable/safe 4.8GHz with a H110 despite the Vipers in push/pull. You'll get too hot. Fine for benching but not for 24/7.

Hey buddy what are you using to test and get them stats .. Because so far I'm @ 4.8ghz and vcore is 1.365v and I am still dropping it further .. If I run prime95 and core temp my max temp is 79 and my max gaming temp for bf3 on ultra is 68 .. Ram is also now at 2,400mhz ( I'm using 8pack's setting he kindly gave me ) but I'm still not sure really what temps are considered exceptable ? But it's seeming ok to me so far .. How ever I welcome any input as I'm trying hard to learn :)

As said I hoping to get temps down further with lower vcore and I'm hoping 8 pack will offer some more setting advice to help these temps get lower as well :)

I use LinX to test (only 10 passes) but as 8-pack will tell you, you're better off to test by just using your system normally. Temps are probably unlikely to ever get to dangerous in such use except if you use really high volts.

In terms of dropping Vcore, yes just incrementally drop to see what is the lowest your system runs stably at. Although the chips can take a lot more, for me, anything consistently above 70C is not acceptable for 24/7.

Ok so I found my vcore limit today , @ 4.8ghz with 2,400mhz ram vcore @ 1.305 max temp on TS bench 1024m 68 , and gaming max temp is much lower again , I'm feeling very happy with my self and well proud of my machine .. Thx again 8 Pack your help and setting rock !

Update ...
Hit some instability a few hours later weirdly ?
So I had to roll back a few times and ended up at vcore 1.320

Anyone know where I can find a table of the BIOS POST codes and their meanings, my google foo has failed me so far.

Edit: I should have said which board!, It's the RIVE.

Edit: NVM I've found them now.

Does this apply to C2 3930ks? Also, what do you recommend to use as max 24/7 VCore on a custom loop (1080 Nova rad and EK Supremacy water block)
