X38 Motherboard pre-order

I will be having an X38 board but was put off my old old gigabyte P965-DS4 with the constant on off on off boot issues so id probably favour the asus branded one

AFAIK the x48 is just a speed binned x38. The pick of the x38's will be rebadged x48.

Next thing motherboards will start to come with a stepping/batch and week code rofl. Its all getting a bit out of control imo.

lol @ anyone in this thread who pre-orders this at that price, classic case of money but no sense. These boards are pointless until Peryn arrives, by which time they will be in-line with P35 prices.

Well having tested many many C2D mobo I am now using a Abit P35 Pro and its the best C2D mobo out there IMO currently.

X38 is pricey and offers nothing I need over P35 at this time.

It's clocking my G0 Quad effortlessly.

TBH this is a release I will probably pass on when released unless it clocks much better than P35.

But somehow I doubt it.

So..... see you on the For sales forums in 10 minutes?

My hands been hovering over a 1.5k order either at Ocuk or another... both are competivly priced so far leaning on Ocuk but once I heard X38 are due soon to replace the already brand new P35 boards I was like wtf !

I do hope they bring out some P965 type equivelents with 1 single 2.0 pci express port and 4-6 satas under £100.

Ive been told they will generaly be priced similar to there P35 boards but £20-30 more.

Gonna ignor the gigaboards price for now cos thats unacceptable for now;)

Christ, Im lost with all these new Intel boards :p , Im still having fun with my aging P965 P5B Deluxe nothing more I require atm :p , I'll have to do my homework all over again when I come to upgrade whenever that will be.

Why am I thinking 8600GTS here? Premium price, the few reviews that are out there say the performance sucks compared to P35. The price on this will drop like a stone once supply comes through.

Can u link to the review?

Thats shocking really since the whole point of X38 was that it was gonna be intels performance chipset, should be above the p35 with ease.

Ahh I miss my P5B vanilla board, was so stable I dont think I could make it crash ;) And still theres nothing wrong with em and there gonna support the next graphic card range with there pci express 1.0a support.

But im still gonna wait on X38 for now.

I'm very disinclined to buy a motherboard on release - I basically beta tested my p965 ds3 and it took ages and numerous bios updates to get it to work properly. Wait for the inevitable faults to be ironed out I say.

This seems to be P975 Vs P965 all over again. The 'premium' motherboard has extra features, but can't compete when it comes to clocking with the mainstream product.

p965 came out after 975x though, so it was going to be better for clocking/faster.

X38 was supposed to support a whole host of features that this gigabyte mobo doesn't have. (turbo memory etc)

As a result it's just turned out to be a p35 with 2*16x pcie v2 slots. That could change however.

Once we start getting sea shipments you can expect the price to drop by approx £20. :)

I am not in the slighest bit remotly intrested in this bord or anything off this MFG.

How ever your saying that it's only a £20 saving via sea! LMAO thats got to be the funnest thing i have heard period!

For them that don't know i'd strongly surgest you check shipping prices! Gigabite is all robotic controled for packing and shipping to there front door. They also offer the best price on shipping both air, sea. Sea is very very very cheap as they will come from the UK office as they will be the importer.

Gray imports are non UK warrantyed!!

that board is a bargain, i payed that much for my P5W-DH last year, and that board is a lot better.

i cant wait to get my hands on it, dual X16 pci-e 2.0 slots! Yummy

Remember it didn't take too long before the first revisions of the Gigabyte P35 boards (1.0/1.1) were superseded by version 2.0. This increased the number sf USB's to the backplate as well as moving the LPT printer port from that backplate. I assume there were other changes as well..?
Whilst it does seem that this particular X38 board has all the USB ports in the right places I still would not be in too much of a rush to be an early adopter.

Then again at that price I wouldn't be a late one either :D

X38 is geared to offer higher potential for performance clocking over the P35 (how much is the question), not everything is about raw fsb and it's associated performance loss. X38 is in testing now, from what I hear the latest silicon spin is better than the P35 for clocking memory, what we need is low access latency, around 40ns under 4ghz and unconditionally stable, then we can call it a true advance over previous gen chipsets.

Raja
