Worst follow-up album ever?

snow patrol follow up album is *Oi language!*
keane again follow up album is *Oi language!*

I have an album by Robert Miles called Dreamland which i really like, not sure if its a direct follow up but his album, which i think was called Organik was dire!!!

c64 - IMO all keane is ****

The first RATM album was awesome - The second album, Evil Empire wasn't nearly as good.

I haven't really heard much of the killers I'm afraid - It's not groundbreaking stuff, but they've got some catchy tunes from what I've heard.

Alanis Morrisette. Her second UK album was ****, with the possible exception of a couple of tracks like Thank U.

Another one which must run things close is Utopia Parkway by The Fountains of Wayne. Didn't have the magic of tracks like Radiation Vibe from the first album.

Oh, and of course Busted. The second album is as bad as people erroneusly made out the first to be.

"over the counter culture" by ordinary boys was a fantastic album by a very young band at the time....

the follow-up "brassbound" was shockingly bad, so disappointing!

Wasn't too impressed with News & Tributes - The Futureheads.

Their self-titled debut album was mind blowingly good however

I don't think the 2nd Coming was ever going to live up to the expectations tbh

Best one if you ask me, musicianship and production apart from monkey face was far superior than the others, people and the press just wanted more jangly-mancpop and expected that in 8 years the band wouldn't change; thus when they heard Begging You it's not suprising everyone wondered where the hell Sally Cinnamon had gone. It was the first Roses album I heard though so maybe I have a soft spot for it.

I can't really think of any absolutely terrible ones apart from post 97' Indie but that doesn't really count because albums from that cess-hole of music are 3 radio friendly singles and a bucket-full of filler, so most of the time they never had a good album to follow up from in the first place. ;)

I would completely agree with that, over the counter culture is fantastic but brassbound is utter tripe.

Its like all the songs they wrote for OTCC but figured weren't good enough.

Not into the "ever" category, but I've just heard KT Tunstall's new album.

Oh dear. The descent into blandness was rather quick. Lyrically the album seems okay, but musically its just missing something. Nothing on their stands out to me and says "LISTEN". Nothing with a catchy beat like "Big Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" or the like on there.

Metallica - St Anger

/end thread

EDIT -******* cowbell :(

only thing that annoyed me about that album was that it took so long for them to try something different. it's the only one of their albums that I can listen to - the others are horribly produced and incredibly boring.

and on the Alanis subject, JLP is my least favourite of her albums - I love her songwriting

Deftones - White Pony to Deftones - Deftones.

I really love this band, White Pony possibly being my favourite record of all time. The follow-up was just...just...nowhere near. I still like it though!:D

^^^ Better edit that sweary out matey:)

I fully agree with what you say about St Anger Sic. I do like their other albums however.
