I'm going to frame that! :D
seriously mate, that's definitely the way to go.
the reyland metro showed what was possible with a metro without spending stupid money.
yes, at the end of the day it was just a metro and as such it had some limitations, but it was also capable of embarrasing cars costing 2 or 3 times as much.

You have a lot to learn about me!!! :o ;) :D :D :D
modesty doesn't throw the dark side off the scent.
it usually takes around 3 or 4 exchanges to figure out who's a plank and who isn't.
you're a good bloke and you don't hide it well either, lol.

Good point mate (no! I don't want a room!)

Plenty of us (myself included certainly!) are guilty of the above.

I'm in with the hug. :D

you can put a nice big lump in it, and make it go uber fast ... but its still a metro, and that means crap interior, crap comfort, crap toys ....

Thats true but it's also obvious and missing the point. People wouldn't be looking to buy this for comfort... more like for the traffic light GP in current form. Goes without saying though really?!

Isn't it best to get a 106 GTi which is already 130ish bhp and... actually handles?

Well for starters you could make it handle and still have change over a 106 GTi. Also it would be significantly quicker in a straight line.

So no a 106 GTi might not be a better bet if your on a budget. But agreed, if you were going to leave it standard obviously the 106 GTi would be a much better bet if you want to go around anything resembling a corner.

Fox has a point.

Its best to have a better overall package than a plainly boring looking metro that has the grunt for the straights.

Yes with some extra money thrown at it, it could be a decent car but would'nt you be best off spending money on a 106 GTi and actually have a chance of getting your money back when you come to sell it on?
