It takes a LOT of metal to set of airport detectors...Although the hand-held ones have beeped at me once. Slightly embarrassing as I was with my mum at the time.

That's fair enough. Although I can understand the appeal with tattoos as some are very aesthetic, I personally just don't find either scaring (I know you've said you're not going in for this) or those lump thingies particularly attractive at all! It seems to cross the line from art (subjective term, I know) to plain mutilation. To most people I would imagine, tattoos are instantly recognised for what they are, but implants would be perceived as some form of abnormality. I guess there is still a huge social stigma regarding the latter, whether this is societal or deep routed in our brains (i.e. "avoid the weirdo") remains unknown.
I'm curious; you cannot see the similarity between creating a design on/in the skin using pigment and a needle and creating a design on/int he skin using a scalpel?

all this talk of scarification has got me thinking about them - I quite fancied a brand, but I appear to get hypertrophics quite easily so I don't think it'd be a great idea.
I'll stick to my stretching for now!
The guy with the studded mohawk looked cool - but then I realised that it was screwed into my skull and it made me feel ill!
I easily get raised scars when cut, but having had a couple of accidental incidents that would be similar to a strike brand it doesn't scar in the same way, I get a light, slightly depressed scar instead.
It could be you'd react similarly, might be worth a little test if you really wanted a brand done.
Looks like it will be one on each temple.
You?
who are you going to?

Lets say for example if you where to take a job interview in a bank, having passed the test on the C.V’s hobbies and interest section stating beads, piercing and tattoos, do you think you would get the job if you turned up with dreds?
They aren't screwed into your skull
The 'bases' are implanted under the skin and protrude through the skin (hence 'transdermal') and 'tops' are screwed into them.
