Ive also found that my ultra loads at 81c, whereas my 2900 loaded at 77c.

IMO the "omg 2900s run hotter" myth has been well and truely debunked.

Have to say though the fan on the ultras not at all noticable, 2900's i always noticed the air whoosh sound.

Got the GTX cheap. Nothing has been confirmed about the high end releases infact we haven't heard much at all, im not expecting them till Jan at least. Nothing strange about buying a GTX now, I won't base my purchasing decisions on pure web specualtion. ;)
 
Fair enough.. can you shed some light on how cheap? I'm thinking of taking the plunge myself and ditching my X1900 Xfire but I'm totally inexperienced when it comes to Nvidia stuff and spotting bargains.

why do you compare an 8800 ultra, to a 2900xt? theyre in 2 different leagues. i can understand if you said:

my 8800 gts loads at 81

My GTX cost 270 Including Delivery New. Hoping to get around 200 for my 2900. Means a cheapish upgrade. Definetly worth it.

Nice upgrade Tom, i can only dream of getting one at the mo, due to buying an engagement ring. Yes i know, normally my pc takes priority this time of year, but i had to!
Though i am tempted with a GTS, if i decide to flog my current card. It wont be too bad a hit on the already hammered cc lol.
 
Tom I can't view your thread about your 2900XT being up for sale, do I need a certain amount of posts to gain permission to a particular part of the forum?
