Doesn't that caddy come with a PCI bracket for connecting to an internal SATA port along with the appropriate cable?

Also remember you need to take the caddy apart and connect the drive to the eSATA connection rather than the USB one internally.

Yeah it does comes with a PCI bracket, but my motherboard only has two SATA ports, it's an old motherboard :( . Both ports are already being used up so i thought getting an extra SATA pci card might do the trick?

I think I will definately get the card, the thing I'm still unsure about is the actual cable I think the eSATA end will fit into the PCI card, but I don't know about the other end.

I assume it will fit into here?

Sorry for the crappy quality, it's difficult to focus close up with a camera phone, lol.

Also, what is the longest you can get for a eSATA cable? Sorry for all the questions! But many thanks for the help.

That connector is normal SATA, eSATA doesn't have the right angled portion.

eSATA cables are limited to 2 metres.

I think it is pretty decent, nice and stable, not really any viabration. I have a WD5000AAKS in there and I can hardly hear it so am pleased. The USB speeds a pretty good but I think the eSATA will be at least double the speed.

Thanks. I was looking at that caddie or this one:

AKASA P2 Series 3.5" e-SATA/USB-Quad Int. Combo Ext. Black Aluminum SATA/IDE Encl. w/ Data flash

Regarding what you wrote: "AKASA P2 Series 3.5" e-SATA/USB-Quad Int. Combo Ext. Black Aluminum SATA/IDE Encl. w/ Data flash "
The AKASA P2 boxes do NOT have data flash at all.
They are IDE, eSATA and USB1 / 2 boxes.
There are no ASKASA eSata boxes with Data flash.
Go to the AKASA website for the real info.

This is the silver finish one: 3.5" Enclosure - Integral P2 E-SATA
Not this: AKASA P2 Series 3.5" e-SATA/USB-Quad Int. Combo Ext. Black Aluminum SATA/IDE Encl. w/ Data flash.
Does not exist.
Someone somewhere read the info for a non eSATA AKASA box and added it to the description of the AKASA eSATA box.
