How many of you remember where you were when you heard about it, did any of you see the second plane crash live? I did...

Yep, I was sat in my living room, 2weeks before start of uni. I thought it was a complaint about a video game trailer. Then I read the news flash at the bottom. Just sat there watching it all day(walked out of my job a few days before, due to a bad back and them not caring), also saw the 2nd plane hit live. :(. It's one of a very few days I remember vividly.

Yep. I still remember. I was at work and someone (forget who) emailed me a pic of the first plane hitting the first tower. I tried looking up on the various online news sites (early-ish days of the net so everything was overloaded). Called my wife to see if she could find anything. Got told it must be a hoax and she was too busy. So went to find a TV in the building.

Found a collection of people huddled around it... then bang the second plane hit... a while later the buildings collapsed.

RIP :(

And no I don't think it was a hoax.

I remember thinking "everything's different now" and the famous quote from Perl Harbour "we've woken a sleeping giant".

I was in work experience for secondary school when I saw it on the tv there as I was going for a morning break. Its strange that I can remember that day so well.

Also I have a letter from a friend in America dated Sept 11th and the first paragraph says how she is in class and some teacher has just came in to tell them that some bombs have went off in New York.

I believe in the conspiracies myself, Americas goverment just cannot justify it with "we dont have the answers".

Whatever the reasons and theories, thousands of people tragically died on September the 11th, the day for me is about remembering the terrible event and thinking about the lives lost, people who lost loved ones, the brave people who saved and also tried to save people who were trapped.

It's a day our generation will never forget.

RIP.

I had just got in from school I think, I am not sure if I saw the 2nd plane crash but I remember seeing the towers fall.

A day I will never forget thats for sure

Come to think about it.. I remember the day amazingly well.

I was still at School 6 years ago. One of the strangest things of that day was, I just got out to lunch and i looked up to see a Green Army "some sort of transport" Plane. Huge Infact, Found it out of the ordinary but didn't think anything of it. Got home early to see on the news this whole situation. I sat on the sofa with my brother and dad, Just looking at it. Litterally thinking, "Oh My God". I don't remember what happened next but i somehow was on the PC playing Yahoo Chess [No idea why.. I must have been good back then] and i remembered having a conversation to a guy in america about it. Infact, I'd say i remember that day more than lots of things. It's stuck in my brain. It only felt like yesterday. :(

The OcUK forums will remain closed all day today as a mark of respect to those who died.

Unless Spie had someone very close who died in that, I think it's rather pointless, I doubt even the Americans do such a thing:rolleyes:

Well i've just noticed the ad section up in the top right corner. Maybe that'll just be there instead of a forum closure.

Just because you didn't have someone involved in the attack (I don't know if Spie did personally) it is still respectful to show that you are thinking of people who lost there lives.

Take back your roll eyes - I wasn't personally affected by 9/11 - but I still think of the people involved on the day.

why would the forums close? have they ever done in previous years? i don't understand why anything would close

They have for the last 5 years, as a sign of respect.
No point disscusing it, either the forum will close or it wont. Anything we say isn't going to change it.
