Erm, right, this game is getting a tinsy winsy bit too boring now. It looks pretty good but the animation on the baddies is painful and the physics even worse! Plus, i can see why they shipped the opening level as the demo owing to the fact that the most impressive part of the game is the opening scene in the water after the crash. After that its just linear levels shooting baddies. Whats new?

Its not even thaaat pretty, really. The lighting is cool and the water looks good but most other bits are pretty mediocre.

At least when Call of Duty 2 came out it was just one huge operatic set peice that had you on the edge of your pants. Bioshock is one set piece (at the beginning) and then.......... straight forward shooting.

I play Medal of Honor Airborne last night and can honestly say that its combat is soooo much better and much more exciting. In fact.yes, thats it.... Bioshock isnt exciting. Its dull.

Im gonna go shoot some Nazis in the head whilst hiding behined a demolished Italian shack with nothing but a Thompson and a few grenads to save me.

Bit of a point less rant really.

I do agree though. It's worth one play through and even that gets to be a bit of a chore.

I feel you're being rather harsh, but I agree Bioshock was a bit boring in certain sections. The plasmids & tonics make it more than "shooting baddies", although on medium I found myself using only 2 or 3 plasmids regularly.

<spoilerish>
I think one problem is that the scariness/shock factor rapidly diminishes after the first few levels - more enemy types would help this, because after the first quarter or third of the game, you've seen them all.

SS2 kept me pooing myself right til the end - I think that was due to the variety of locations, though. The environment doesn't feel as "real" in Bioshock, despite the hugely better graphics.

I agree.

It just becomes mindless button-bashing after a while, didn't even have to think. Go to A, get item B, goto C, activate, move on.

Felt a bit clunky and, well, became disinteresting very rapidly.

Still completed it but hey ho...

agreed - ill keep plodding on with it with my fingers crossed but... well, lets wait and see.

Thankfully, im running it at max and getting a decent FPS level - i was proper worried that my card would fall flat on its face with this game but the fact that it doesnt certainly shows that its coded well etc.

What annoys me is that certain PC magazines were giving it 95% and 9/10 etc when it quite blaitantly isnt as good as that. This whole 'jump on the band wagon of hype' attitude towards games reviews is becoming annonying. HL2 wasnt worth the scores it got etc, but because of the hype surrounding it, PC games Mags wouldnt dare give it a bad score.

Bioshock is an 80% game.

agreed, level design quite pretty but very linear. Models and textures appalling. Point A to point B and back to point A to press switch that opens door past point B mentality. Pointless, irrelevant pipemania sub-games.

Nice sound, good intro, bout it really...:(

If you don't like it then you don't have to play it. Personally, I would rate it at 95%. Bear in mind 10/10 or 100% doesn't mean "perfect game", there's no such thing. The reviewers are just saying 95% recommended....

Are you fed up with the game, or the people who recommended it so highly?

I don't hate it, just don't think it's worth the hype. There are many factors that should reduce the reviewers scores accordingly.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Me - love the game, by far one of the best I have played in a very long time.
Cannot imagine having to play a medal of honour game, killing nazi's.

I would rather stop playing games, than have to play another WW2 game.

fair play to them for trying a different setting. I agree that the stream of WW2 shooters gets a bit tiresome as well. I do like the setting and some of the ideas.

Yes, the premise is wonderful (although not as good as the SS2 setting IMO). The strongest part of the game is probably the storyline, which felt very well rounded for a game.

I have mixed feelings. The presentation is brilliant and it's very atmospheric. It also has some nice gameplay touches here and there. It feels like it should be a classic. However...

It's very linear. I was looking forward to exploring rapture, but you end up running back and forth on rails. Very frustrating.

Spawning bad guys. Very lazy and unrealistic. Gets boring coming back into an area you've explored only to find bad guys standing in exactly the same place they were the last time. And the times when it sends waves of baddies after you.......it feels like a 10 year old game.

Too many items. On medium skill level there's no challenge at all and no point in buying or building ammo or health/EVE.

AI is pretty poor. I hate it when a dev over-hypes the AI. Wow, they'll run to water if you set them on fire? They'll sometimes attack each other? That must have taken all of 2 mins to program. The rest of the time they run at you mindlessly.

It's a great looking and very fun game, but hardly up there with Deus Ex or HL2.

I think once you have played games like Deux Ex, SS2 and HL1 nothing else really compares. Although I had a blast playing RS: Vegas.
The game must have been programmed very well as it runs pretty much seamless on my rig. Shame they didn't vary the game play more.

TBH any game can get like that, once you have done and seen everything there isnt much else to keep you happy. I havent played Bioshock for a the last week as i got stuck and since then just havent picked it back up again.

System shock 2 was better imo.

my thoughts exactly!! they need to drop it for a while and maybe in a few years time then can have a good think about ww2 and come up with something original, not just a series of missions but a story!!!

I just got it today and although I've only played a couple of hours or so it just seems like any other FPS, there isn't much new. It seems a decent game but hasn't lived up to the "OMG 10/10 best game ever!!!!11!111" hype.
