ESCROW is the thing that scammers use the most. ESCROW should only be used with someone you trust. Ebay doesn't allow the use of ESCROW either.

Scammers use fake escrow sites, and Ebay DOES allow the use of several escrow providers, get your facts straight.

You wouldn't see me touching any escrow site, with a barge poll, it's open to, to much abuse, just like paypal. At least they now offer insurance if they have a confirmed address you type in tracking number etc.

OCUk, would not hold the money or use anything that would cost money toio implement, afterall MM is essentially a competitor.

As far as I can remember, I've only lost £10.00 on MM. Was for a Futurama Boxset IIRC.

More often than not I don't get left feedback, I've had a bit more than what my current trust states.

Maybe I should chase people..

Well seems you have all the answers.... if ESCROW are so great why doesn't everybody use them when from what you say theres 0% chance of being scammed? And if theres a bigger chance then 0% then it makes it no better then papal or the like.

Escrow fee's are normally higher than paypal and paypal has always been open to abuse mainly due to their incompetent staff and idiots who are unable to secure their PC's and leave their accounts open to hacking.

I am finding it impossible to contact a guy called MoD_Callidus who i brought a 6800gs from on the 8th of sept. Now it is the 13th and have had no contact nor the item and i don't know what to do:(

He comes on ocuk like every night so if anyone can contact him for me and give him me email ([email protected]) that would be great. I just think he has forgot thats all.

The only email i ever had off him was on the 7th September 2007 23:22:18

and it said:

Hiya Patrick Sorry had checked your wanted thread a day or two ago lol my bad, please make payment to [email protected] once you've made payment just drop me a mail with postal details and I'll get card out asap Regards Kieron

So i made payment to him on the 8th via paypal and no word since:(

Simple thing to do is, if someone has 0 feedback ask them to 'risk on there part' like....... if there selling you something, ask to send it 1st and THEN make the payment, iv done this a couple of times and due to my feedback they new id pay once they sent me the item, if they dont send it then there clearly scamming.

Yeah but MoD_Callidus trust has good comments that is why i brought it off him.:(

don't started worrying yet, it's only been 5 days, just keep on at it. has he got msn or anything registered. He might be busy or something.

The Catholic church has been scamming you? I am shocked and appalled. ;)

Like how did someone get 12 trusts when he only had 253 posts.

Because posts in the Members Market don't count towards your overall post count, same as in the testing forums. It could also be that they were a member before the increased post count requirements I suppose. :)

yep, but it's something I would be checking on before paying, it's just about using common sense, you might still be scammed but at least you minimized the risk.

what did you get banned for??:eek:

I always thought you seemed a little Nigerian.... you run too fast ¬.¬

Your forgetting the jumping...

1st suspenstion) Too many for sale threads open.
2nd suspention) Bumping my for sale thread.
3rd and final suspention then ban) Carnt remember, was something silly like having a leaky pen. :D:D

Are the suspensions kept forever ?
just asking as I have had 2 due to too many wanted threads open, hopefully they expire sometime as knowing my luck I will do it again by accident which would really be annoying :/

There's always going to be a risk, having been scammed as a buyer though, I'm aiming more towards eliminating the risk for that side of the transaction.

Just as bad, it works both ways. Plenty of scams are from sellers whining and making out that they never received anything, when in reality they did and they're just benefitting from Paypal's ridiculous buyer protection.
In all honesty I think the current method is fine, it just needs both buyer and seller to keep their wits about them.
It's one of the things that's so much better selling stuff here than t'bay... I know that people are actually aware how to handle hardware, and they understand that a 200w PSU from 1998 wont power a modern day GFX card etc. That's always something that worries me, idiots.

The approach I would take is don't take on anything more than you can afford to be scammed. I wouldn't buy a monitor or such from someone without going to look at it, that then forms some kind of guarantee. I've only got 1 feedback, but that's from the 1 item I've ever bought off there. Good communication is essential, and I would encourage people to not jump on people selling things, but get to know them more first.

I've been very trusting on a few different forums now. In-fact I recently had a £550 transaction (verified trust* by asking the seller to email me from his Egay addy which he did, had 150+ pos feedback), and in reality that could have gone boobs up. The only way to be sure as a buyer is to collect, or as a seller to sell only by cash/postal order, and only release the item wen payment has been received.
