Remember my other thread! HALO3 Proof of earlie SALE!!!!! WOOOOT! PROOF!!!! HALO3!!!

I've been playing PC FPS since wolfenstien but there arn't many games that come close to Halo 1 on the xbox.

I like a sense of realism and i don't think you get that from a PC.There is no feedback and the aiming is far too easy.

Console FPS when done right are far more enjoyable than PC ones imo.

I'm talking about single player games here btw.

Wha....what? I can't believe what you have just said.

Halo is fairly good for a console FPS but it doesn't even come remotely close to PC FPS's in my opinion.

I am going to be buying Halo 3 just to see how it is, but I really don't understand the hype. It looks near identical to the previous games just better graphics.

Also UT may be good, but that's a PC game not a console one, UT3 will not come close to Halo 3 sales wise or popularity and that's all that matters. (Not that UT3 is out this year on 360 anyway)

What? Yes sales and popularity is all that matters, it doesn't matter how good the game is. Riiiiight.

How about reviews then? Both Halo and Halo 2 rank higher than every UT at gamerankings. I love all the UT's (the original the most) but that doesn't change the fact that halo is more popular in every way.

The Zen levels were a tiny part of half life though, Far Cry is a brillant game, the last bit got a bit tedious though. What happened to the days of lengthy single player FPS though? games like Half Life, Far Cry, Turok 2 took me ages to complete, now stuff like Halo 2 and The Darkness (although brilliant) seem very short in comparison.

What do you think makes a PC FPS better?

Controls?Graphics?

The PC is always on the cutting edge of FPS genre. Take a look at Crysis for example.

Good SP PC FPS's in recent decade...

Half-Life, FarCry, Half Life 2, Bioshock....

And on consoles? Ummm...Goldeneye. That's all I can think of.

And what about the Medal of Honor series, Call of Duty, F.E.A.R...there's loads more. All the cross platform FPS's have been better on PC, bar Halo.

Halo was a better MP game than SP game. The SP component was terrible quite frankly, absolutely terrible.

We now very little about crysis, it looks amazing graphically and physically, but the gameplay looks quite dull.

What about Bioshock? or Half Life 2? or The Darkness? or COD2? or Prey? most PC FPS from now on will be console as well, just look at half life 2 episode 2, UT3, COD 4. Even Crysis will probably get ported.

I agree with Haskcake too. I borrowed Halo and Halo 2 off a friend after getting a 360, expecting a really immense shooter and for Master Chief to be way badass. Instead, I was shooting these squeaky voiced aliens in a game that just didn't have any atmosphere. The multiplayer on the other hand is really fun.

From what I've seen it looks a damn sight better than Halo 3 in terms of gameplay. I'm sorry but Halo 3 looks near identical to the previous games bar the graphics.

And pretty much all of them are far better on the PC.

So 25% of the game was rubbish?

Pretty much, possibly more. The Trigens ruined it for me. Far Cry's a fps that, for me, is superb during its best bits and absolutely awful for much of the rest.

Those rocket launching Trigen were the worst sort of Doom rejects.

I don't see that at all. I'm a huge fps fan, have been for years, but Crysis doesnt interest me in the slightest - more of the same with pretty gfx.

I honestly prefered CoD2 on the 360, got Bioshock on the 360 out of choice (i'd rather have a pad with analogue movement, triggers, rumble etc), and am really quite excited about the prospect of HL2 on the 360. Immersion driven single player fps work better with a pad imo.

Interesting, because very little has been shown of halos gameplay, unless your talking about online, in which case it hasn't been changed because it wasn't broken.

Oh really? Bioshock with its activation woes, incompatibility with AVG? (I have bioshock on pc and didn't have any problems, but many people have)
The darkness isn't even on PC, COD 2 was better on consoles, the others are very similar with Half Life 2 the only one being better on PC, and even then the upcoming orange box could change that.

Goldeneye, Bioshock, Halo, Half-Life 2, Black, Turok, The Darkness.
That's without mentioning the ones I wouldn't class as FPS such as Gears of War.

I'm sure there's loads more, that's just off the top of my head though.

It wasn't broken. Right, that's supposed to be an excuse for not improving the game is it?

I didn't have any problems with Bioshock on the PC. It looked far better on my PC and played better with a mouse and keyboard. The same with CoD 2.

It's quite widely regarded that Call of Duty 2 was better on Xbox360.

As for Bioshock, the game was built up from the start to support BOTH control methods, so to say it played better with a M&K isn't fair. It plays equally on both, however you preferred it on mouse and keyboard. I preferred Bioshock on Xbox360, I felt it played smoother and I didn't have to faff with any settings.

As for not improving Halo 2, they have, but huge steps didn't need to be made, however you wouldn't notice them as you didn't play it, nor were you a huge fan of Halo 2 online. I'm sure Kronologic and Alrik could write a huge list of differences.
