2900pro 512bit Interface Confirmed.....by HIS

How many watts do these consume per card, im thinking of getting 2 for a crossfire setup, my 620w corsair with peak of 725w should be able to handle it.

No one knows unless someone on here downclocks there XT to Pro speeds and monitors the power usage. I'd say it will use around 20w less than the XT?. Will have to wait for some reviews which should surface soon.

so ATi released their Ultra first and GTX second, you can kiss goodbye in trying to get shot of a 2900 XT second hand now, everyone will just want brand new pro's which they can clock up, XT's are paperweights, unless you wouldn't mind only being able to get £100 for it, ouch. :D

Im gonna go with HiS being correct here :)

Since they have built the card and thats the specs they have posted I doubt they would put up the incorrect one

All things being said its looking good for these cards so far and sounds like a great deal!

Second hand price will need to fall to the same price of the pro im thinking

its still 80nm so the power consumption is not gonna be much lower, just the lower clocks which in reality means around 15-20w less power consumption at best.

if this was a revised core at 65nm or 60nm then it would be a great bargain.

Always said the pro was going to be a good buy. Bit like the 1950 pro is now.

ATI will want to steal all those Nvidia customers buying 8800 GTS.

Even the GT looks good with it's reduced shaders. Overclocked it ought to get close to a 8800 GTS 320Mb.

Maybe we might see some price drops on the 8800 GTS cards next month. Can't really see anybody buying anymore 8800 GTS 320Mb cards once these are out.

Depends if it's the kind of owner that cares! :p

I certainly don't - my 2900XT has been worth every penny. If I had to sell it for £50 next month i'd consider what I spent on it worthwhile. ;)

And er... paperweights? You know that all the XTs aren't going to just "stop working" don't you? :D

You make some odd comments sometimes Loadsa! :p

Hi there

RV670 is the revised core, which is 55nm I believe, expect those November time. :)

The 2900 Pro is a short term product to give ATI the edge over the next couple of months. From what I can gather from the ATI presentation is the Pro is just a downclocked XT, but will double check the powerpoint presentation on Monday.

These are available from OcUK now with stock due sometime this month from Sapphire and HIS, then expect Asus to follow later:-

BUY NOW!!

As always another first for OcUK! :)

Gibbo, what kind of performance can we expect from the RV670? Is it faster than the 2900XT?

So im guessing that it will still clock to 2900XT speeds and further because of the lower power consumption meaning it is wise only to have 1 pci-e connection, also the fan may be much quieter as i hear the 2900XT fans go loud when 3D mode starts up.

This is nuts. Everyone's excited (including me) about the 3rd to 5th best card out :D. Can't wait to see if these will match the 2900XT with a bit of overclocking.

So these pro's are basically XT's just rebadged and slightly underclocked ?

Im in the market for a new card, just dont know what to get to run halo3,QW,nfs: ps and crysis, would one of these run all those games at 1440x900 with all the eye candy , or am i better off getting a 8800 range card ?

Well the X2900XT and the 8800GTS 640mb version are very close so if the 2900 pro can match the X2900XT then there would be no point at all in buying anything else other than the 2900pro.

The only other choice would be the 8800GTX/Ultra as no one will pay £230 (example) for a 2900XT or 8800GTS 640mb model when £170 can get you the same performances.
