2900pro 512bit Interface Confirmed.....by HIS

very very very tempting to get one for crossfire with my existing xt. any downsides to that? - rig can definitly handle crossfire.

Hi there
Confirmed the 2900 Pro is a 512-bit memory interface. It is identical to the 2900 XT, except for lower clock speeds.

Thanks Gibbo :D may the speculation end! this card will be a great addition and looks like a complete bargain! ;) Now just keep us updated mate as I will order as soon as there is a confirmed date of arrival!

Would probably just downclock your XT to the speeds of the pro I believe
no. it wouldn't... each card world run at its own clock speed..when i had a x1600xt and x1650pro in crossfire they ran at they own clock speeds.

also u can overclock each card to different speeds...

Think im getting confused with Sli tbh but I thought that was the case with crossfire, like with the old master cards, must be different from what I thought then

also ati meant put something in the card bios so u can't overclock it the high...

These will probably be parts that didnt quite make the grade to the speeds of the XT or they will simply be XT's donclocked and disguised! They wont put an overclock limit apart from their own software so just using ATi Tool, Riva Tuner will probably be sufficent

Now this is the first card thats interested me since I got an X1900XT along time ago. Finally, a high end well priced card! :)

Any idea if I would see any performance increase if I moved over from my BFG 8800GTS 320mb to one of these.

I game at 1680x1050 mainly so I think my current card with only 320mb is holding me back on this resolution.

What are your thoughts?

Hi there

From what is currently available Abit IP35 Pro is one of the best boards and that is in stock. :)

Next board from Asus features X38 chipset and to give a clue as to its name here is a hint:-
"What we do in life echoes in eternity"

I am sure that will give it away as to what the new top-end X38 based board will be from Asus. :)

I'm so Glad of that new name :D
