Upcoming X38 Motherboards

E-SATA on the Asus might come in the way that Gigabyte does it, using a PCI bracket with some connectors on it that plug into the motherboard.

These boards do look petty good.

Not quite sure about some of the heatipping on some of them though. They look very nice but do they actually perform upto scratch?

So...Quick show of hands.

1.) Who is actually going to buy into X38 & DDR3 as soon as its available ?
2.) Current Fav board maker / design ?

My personal choices:

1.) Yes, I am going to build in the next couple of weeks, I have a buyer lined up for my current rig so makes good sense timing wise for me.

2.) Would love a DFI but won't hold my breathe...so its either a Gigabyte offering or the Asus Maximus in DDR3 flavour !

1. I am going to wait to late October / early November so hopefully I can see some reviews and some DDR2 v DDR3 benchmarks.

2. Asus,Abit and DFI

Just out of interest what DDR3 are you looking at for your build?

I doubt at stock there is much difference, however DDR3 allows for much greater overclocking. P35 is good for 1:1 at high CPU FSB (400-530) but DDR will allow for 2:3 3:4, with the memory bandwidth reaching incredible speeds. i just hope the X38 clock the Q6600 G0's better than P35.

I am not sure...I was hoping for a guniea pig :D
or failing that a bundle deal where the components have been picked and matched.

1.) DDR3 is far to expensive atm for my liking. When it drops a £100 maybe then.

2.) The ASUS looks good, but they are still soldering the BIOS chip to the board. I thought somone else may have spotted that.
The ABIT P35 was a good board, so ABIT gets my vote.

RE the E-SATA on the ASUS....as posted on another forum....it's a gamers board, why would it?

Seems the GA-X38-DQ6 is delayed again to around the 27th - 29th September, not sure if OcUK is getting them in for today but from other competitors they are starting to list them for the end of next week. Kinda wonder if this was Gigabyte's intention to get the early money from pre-orders making people think they will get the X38 early, then delaying it 2 weeks when some of the others will start appearing.

I kinda think E-Sata could well be used by Gamers too......could ask why are there so many SATA ports on a Gamer's board......etc. ;)

Anyhow, I am suprised at how effective my P5W-DH has been to date, with the G0 quad in it, and thus have decided I can afford to wait and watch......
