Sentana Sports

I have it on Freeview, and whilst it's not earth-shatteringly good, I'd rather have it than not have it.

Setanta are a joke. £10 a month to watch maybe one premiership game per week?! No thanks! I would much prefer a pay-per-view option like Prem Plus than this Setanta ***p!

To be fair though, Sky were charging £8 for PPV matches so if you watch more than one game a month then Setanta represents better value.

Personally I just find Setanta annoying. More players in the football broadcasting world is supposed to be good for competition, but all it means is that you have to subscribe to two places instead of one if you wanna watch all the games. So the consumer loses out.

Only Sky Sports subscribers lose out.

Those of us with Freeview (and I'm pretty sure we're in the majority) have gained Premiership and Scottish football for £2.50 a week.

^fair point I suppose.

However, a lot of people who are heavily into their TV football will likely have a sky sports subscription. Whereas many with Freeview (e.g. my dad) couldn't give a monkeys about football.

I'm getting the Setanta package free with Virgin, don't think I'd cough up £10pm but looking forward to them sorting out a sports news channel as I really miss Sky Sports News since Virgin & Sky had there tiff... which Virgin customer services said would be sorted asap many months ago

Commentary is dire too

i dont know if this has already been mentioned as i didnt have time to look through all the replies before i left work but...
Setanta say they dont charge an annual subscription, but they do charge a £10 connection fee... so if you buy it for 1 month it costs u 39.99.. the normal price. plus £10 for the connection.... IFyou want to miss out a month and then buy pick it back up again the month after, they charge you another £10 connection fee.... so basically... its an annual subscription.. done in a crafty way! buggers!

off home now! tartar!

Setanta sounds like a nightmare to be honest with the connection fee and it being impossible to get through to the cancellations dept. They've marketed themselves as a month by month option but really that couldn't be further from the truth. Prem Plus was a much better deal especially with the season tickets.

Well I've cancelled my direct debit with Setanta and given my bank explicit instructions not to accept any payment requests. I don't care whether Setanta say they require 30 days notice, they are just trying to get another month's payment out of me, when I haven't even had it one month. I paid the £10 connection fee and one months subscription of £9.99 but there's no way I'm paying them any more than that.

I got 2 seasons of sky's prem play season ticket for £50 each, £100 for 2 years of football, don't think I will ever sign up to Setanta.

It's costs £29.99 for the first two months, inc the connection fee. So I don't know where the hell you've got £39.99 for one month.

And it's nothing like an annual subscription. You are free to cancel it at any time.

Try canceling Sky after the first month and see how much they will charge you for the privilege.

And lets be honest here. A tenner a month is sod all.

Yeah, but Sky doesn't market itself with the words "£9.99 a month, no minimum contract" when in reality that couldn't be further from the truth.
