Famitsu hints at Final Fantasy VII remake?

I don't want a remake, I just want a port onto a handheld...OoT and FF7 to play on the train/bus/at a mates, with an instant/reasonable save function... lovely! A man can dream can he not?

You can do that with a PS3 and a PSP I believe. I think there is an official PS1 emulator for the PSP, but you need a PS3 to use it.

That's not really the same thing as a proper conversion though, is it? I'd pay £30 for the game again, but asking me to pay £400-500 to play it? Sony can go &"(! themselves ;) - doesn't fix OoT either :) Im a little suspect on the quality of emulation on something like a PSP in the first place, mind.

6 was by far the best but I'd like a remastered FFVII as it was the best 3D iteration and can be made a lot better. No change of tune here :)
Well I'm pretty sure that you referred to all FFs after 6 as crap so I'll just assume you didn't really mean it:p

Ah I see. I must admit the third dimension is a bit superfluous in terms of gameplay. It's purely a graphical effect.

It upset me nearly as much as that stupid 3D streetfighter game...

I wish people would leave my 2D games alone!

Well at least in FF it doesn't really change the gameplay. Apart from the minigames, I can't think of anything in FFVII that couldn't be done just as easily with an old 2D tile based system. Even in the most recent FF it could have been done in 2D without significantly changing the gameplay.

It felt very different in 3D and I haven't given the series a proper chance since the change tbh. If FFVII was re-released I'd give it a proper go :)

Meltdown.

From what I've gleaned looking over neogaf and the Sony TGS press conference / Square behind closed doors session it seems like it was a rumour that started on a Japanese forum, went to Neogaf then got wrongly assigned to Famitsu. There's no sign of a remake (shame).

I know people will not agree with this but I hope they give it a better battle system, ive tried playing the game before and the turn based battle system just send's me to sleep. :(

With ridiculous comments like that you're just not qualified to participate in any discussion of a VII remake.

Help yourself to a free Ether on the way out.

It's not going to happen - it'd be far too expensive to develop and risky to rely on fan nostalgia. I'd also very much doubt it would 'save' the Playstation 3. I wasn't aware that it needed saving for a start.

VII never had any turn based battle system that was X, VII had ATB.

But I dont agree with a remake and never will, changing just one thing will mean them changing lots of others too. Also XIII isnt due out for another year so IF they are doing one its going to be years before you see one, where as myself Im more then happy with the original.

well ATB is turn based, i.e it works out when your going to get a turn, as opposed to the actual fighting being realtime in itself.

but its not strictly Turn, i.e Player Turn, Opponent Turn, - though it can work out like that given similar speed stats!
