And that guy who had supposedly spend £50k on his singing, god knows what he's spent it all on, I mean he wasn't crap, but he wasn't any good either.
And how many people have we seen who are quite clever people (like the pharmacist) but were complete fools when it came to their thoughts on their own talents?
There was even a singing teacher who had sent his star pupil and stood there in front of the panel and tried to tell them she was excellent.
There have been professors and lecturers and the other week was the fat bearded guy who works in finance.
It just shows that next to a genius is an idiot.
Of course I blame the karaoke culture.
I've been to a maximum of 20 karaoke nights, all of them have been on holiday and I've never heard one decent singer but I've heard most of them come off to applause that Robbie Williams would be proud of.
I watched a 14 year old girl completely make a fool of herself singing Flashdance and I didn't know where to turn. When she came off it was as though she was a star and people kept stopping and telling her she should be a star.
Me and the wife just stared at each other and a bloke on the same table asked me if she was any good. I said 'Couldn't you tell?' and he just said 'no'.
This even transposes to people in bands and some of them (even though very talented) can't hear mistakes.
I remember one band I was in my mate did a 16 bar solo where he was one note lower than he should have been.
I turned round and evil eyed him and the bass player did the same but he was non aware. I looked at the drummer and other guitarist but they couldn't hear it either.
The gig had been recorded and it was only then they could hear the mess.
In my own band my two guitarists have no sense of whats right or wrong even though they are excellent musicians but at practise they are complete non musical.
