HD benchmark results - on its way out?

Ok, 120GB Hitachi drive seemed to be running slow. Disk defragmenter took about a couple of hours to do 7 GB!

On graphs from both benchmark software, there is a spike...does that means there's a problem with the drive? :confused:

Run a 5 Stage CHKDSK at NEXT reboot.

Tried both Hitachi's disk diagnosis tool and XP's error check (chkdsk?), they passed.

You actually ran the above CHKDSK and know it takes hours ?

So it's not the same as the one where I ticked on Tool tab of HDD? :confused:

Yes BUT both box's then reboot, it will do 3 stages pretty quick but stage 4 and 5 take ages, depending on size and mess its in.

Ok, I did both boxes and it was quite short after reboot.

So I have to run chkdsk r/ for stage 4 & 5 right?

It may have skipped all stages, Ive had that if its really messed up.

Try only ticking bottom box and it will run inside Windows (does 5stages) but only in read mode same as soing CHKDSK in the RUB box (only does 3).

I am only trying to help I dont know for sure whats up, I had one file system so messed up it would only CHKDSK by using as a slave drive to another HDD with Windows on it, I CHKDSK'd it from the other drive.
