best, fastest 500GB

im looking for the best 500GB (or more but doesnt make a diffrence for me)hard drive money can buy.

whats the highest one you will find on those benchmark tests? thats the one i need!!

pleas post here which ones. cost isnt a limit

The absolute cost no option choice is the Seagate Cheetah 15K6 but a) it's not available yet, b) it'll only be 450Gb and c) you'll need to spend a couple of hundred quid on a SAS controller card.

For something you can actually order today and is 500Gb then the WD AAKS is the fastest you'll get.

The 1Tb ones are in stock, no outlook on the 500 or 750Gb ones.

Although the 500GB market is desperately short at the moment and prices are hiking up, Seagate are still building a lot of the 7200.10 drives. It would be rather daft of them to release the 7200.11 500GB when they have so many of the old drives left.

I bought a 7200.9 500Gb when the 7200.10 were out because a) it was cheaper & b) 7200.10 is a lottery if u get one with a noisy motor.
