BBC1 News shows Killzone 2 as Halo 3

With rigged phone ins etc it makes you wonder who you can trust these days?

You have to remember that its middle class and middle aged mummy's boy's who make these reports?

Gaming is now for ALL ages to enjoy - the sooner it is given the same respect as other forms of entertainment the better. I shouldnt be made to feel "embarrassed" to buy games by society because i am deemed too old at 33?

I have encountered many articles on the bbc website which is obviously biased in Sony's favour. The bbc are also quick to report the failings of microsoft. I thought this was common knowledge?

That's taking it to an extreme mate.

Probably some journalist who had a breakdown in the arse-elbow-location department, rushed the article out just to get his weekly quota up :o

I remember reading a wii article in Reader's Digest (hey I was in a waiting room, nothing else to read!) just before the wii was released that made me absolutely livid.

Basically it was some old cow having a huge go at Nintendo because "Nintendo are promoting the wii as a games console for all ages and to both male and female players", when apparently this wasn't the case...

Oh no, the way she saw it was if Nintendo wanted a games console that appealled to women they needed to stop making and releasing games such as "grand theft auto" and other violent games which dipict women as negative and/or sexual stereotypes.

She refered to serveral mature rated playstation and xbox games, and throughout all her nonsense managed to not mention a single, actual Nintendo game.

It made me absolutely fuming knowing this ***** was polluting the minds of others with her ignorance.

Laughable complaint tbh. Also I am sure video games make up a small percentage of their Technology coverage, which I find very informative most times. I don't think its fair to slate the whole dept based on 2 examples both about video games (which isn't very much of their reporting at all, if you just look at their website)

I think the BBC are a great news organisation, obviously they will make mistakes like any other company at times. Dunno why they are getting so much heat from this forum, it was one article about Halo 3, so what. Those that are gonna buy it have already decided or pre-ordered, this isn't because they are biased towards Sony.

Also the game is rated 15 by the BBFC (I think), is it just their rating of this violent game you disapprove of or other Movies and Games they have rated in the past? The premise of the game is war and you killing aliens with big guns. If you want the games to be mainstream and bigger than movies, then they abide by the same classifcation laws.

If you would like to contact me further regarding these issues I am more than willing to give a more informative, in-depth look at video games and iron out the misconceptions that are attached to the BBC. You are carrying a heavy, unwarrented stigma towards video games, the market and the home users which need to change.

This bit made me laugh, I am sure they will contact you as you are a "3d Environmental Artist", reading that paragraph makes you sound very arrogant for someone who has just done a 1st degree related to computer games and has yet to seek paid employment in the industry (I am assuming, as you have mentioned you are unemployed).

p.s. hope they reply, as I would genuinely be interested in the response, even though I think the actual letter is laughable, in places.

BBC rules. Michael Buerk > NokkonWud :D

BBC aka the sony fanboy network

it's ridiculous how poor the press are over here on games.

It's godawful.

I just watched a 15 minute segment on CNN on Halo 3, it was professional and informed. They talked about the series, about the sales, about how its microsofts ace in the hole in the console war.

They went on to say in the first 8 hours it sold 1.8 million copies. It is on track for $191m in 24 hours dwarfing Spiderman 3's $151m in 3 days.

Much much better journalism when it comes to games.

i stopped watching news months ago as it seems to be designed to control people by blowing every issue out of all proportion ad scare them into staying in their homes. eg last nights trevor mcdonald report on "a new superbug worse then BSE" LOVL! You'd be a mental wreck if you believed anything you saw on the news

Load of crap TBH, all of it

Yea i remember watching a cnn report before the 360 launch and it was very informative and balanced.

What are sky news like?

Also did anyone watch the Channl 5 one, it was OK although they had some muppet from a non-gaming magazine pretending to know what he was talking about.

I don't think theres any way you can pass Halo off as not a violent game. Comparing it to Home Alone just doesn't work on a number of levels. I agree with your other points though.

I'd absolutely agree, however the point was only made because BBC often relate any game with a gun in as being violent, when infact something like Home Alone contains many elements which would make that violent. It's all about context.

Halo is not violent, far from it. Manhunt is violent.

Laughable complaint tbh.
It's a complaint in the heat of the moment, nothing more. However many of my points are valid towards how the BBC tags gamers or games.

I merely mentioned it as it's a direct insult to the industry I am a part of. Whilst it's true I haven't had paid employment, it would be incorrect to say I'm not a part of it, I have worked freelance creating models on mods over the years for online friends.

p.s. hope they reply, as I would genuinely be interested in the response, even though I think the actual letter is laughable, in places.
That's your opinion. My points were only on points relating to faults in their reporting. Should it come to it I would gladly write up my thoughts in a thorough report which wouldn't be so 'laughable'. It's a poxy little web-box on their complaints site.

It's the most partizan company in the world. Sky news > BBC news.

Was there a re-edit of this from lunch times report? because that one wasn't the snarling bias filth thats got some people foaming here.

*edit* And neither was the one I just saw on BBC news 24, that was actually about the growth/expansion of the industry to a wider audience, which parts where inaccurate?
I agree the Killzone 2 footage was badly used right at the end but that was linked to the blockbuster production values comment they were making, just badly edited.
