How do you wake up in the morning?

people actually have alarms by their bedside? i thougt that was just in movies.

when my alarms go off, i get up, go to the desk (opposite side of room) turn off, walk to cupboard (back near bed) reach to top of cupboard (near ceiling) turn off.

then i go back to sleep.

once i forced myself to go to shower instead of going back to sleep.

i fell asleep in the shower, fell down, hitting my head on the (presumably) tap and lay there. when i woke up, my head was bleeding and i was about 2cm away from drowning because i had blocked the plughole when i fell down.

not doing that again.

PURE LOL !! :D

I have an old school bell type alarm clock I bought from Asda for £4 - never fails in scaring the frick out of me to get me up in the morning.

Might have to get some porn songs from that guy with mp3 player, play it on loud so the whole house can hear and I bet i'll soon jump up then.

I've tried putting 2 very loud alarms positioned around my bedroom but I've some how obtained the ability to turn them off whilst still sleeping.

I think I will make a little program which plays music at a set time and the only way to turn it off is to answer a range of very simple questions. I should hopefully wake up properly because I will actually have to use a bit of brain power :D

i've been thinking about making an alarm clock with a 10 digit keypad on top, and when the alarm goes off, the display flashes a randomly generated 4 digit code, which must be entered in to turn the alarm off.

That would work very well :) If it was very loud too, you pretty much have a perfect alarm clock.

Hehe, wish I done that for my electronic's project now!

if somone hasnt said this before... (didnt feel like reading 3 pages of "how to get out of bed"

put the alarm clock on the other side of the room, that way you have to get up to switch it off!

Plus go to bed earlier

I used to be really bad at getting up early, now I'm pretty good at it :p

1. Put the alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to get out of bed to switch it off.
2. Set a really loud alarm - I set mine to an untuned radio station on full volume
3. Set a second and third alarm , all in different locations of the room
4. Drink plenty of water before going to bed, you'll need to go to the toilet when you wake up

Big test tomorrow. Got to be up to drive 35 mins to Glasgow, park, buy a train ticket and be on the 7.05 to Manchester.
Gonna try most of the different pieces of advice on here, including going to bed in 10 mins.

Not a bad idea of course they might just pull the power cord out or whatever

I was terrible for getting up. Weekends I could easily stay unconcious till 1 - 2pm.

Bought myself a foam memory topper and now I wake up every day at 8.30 feeling fine. I can only put it down to the mattress giving me a better deeper sleep.

I made it to the station with time to spare, and I'm off to buy a new bed today - I think my old mattress is stopping me getting a good sleep, and I'm also waking up with a sore back like an old man!

That puzzle clock would be straight out the window or thrown against the wall.
I wake up by getting 8 hours sleep, i often wake up an hour before, think wow ive got another hour then am really tired when i do get up.

When i used to have to get up at 4.50 for work i fell asleep against the wall in the shower a couple of times. My mum would knock on the door at 6.10 saying ive had a call from work asking where i was!

I follow the routine now of, get up, go and get some cereal, start cooking for lunch at work, then get a shower whilst food is cooking. get dressed and go and get cooked food. (Then leave) This stops you feeling really tired in the shower and taking ages. Also if you stay in too long you have overcooked sloppy food for dinner (which i have found a couple of times)

Squeezebox plays a random track from my collection through my Hi-Fi. Mobile phone set 10 minutes later for backup :)

I've had the same problem since I got curtains in the bedroom! :p I then decided to set me alarm about 1/2 before I wanted to be up with the Rocky theme music to inspire me to jump out, down some raw eggs and run up some steps. However this has only resulted in an extra 1/2 hour of snooze button hitting!
