Hard drive bay mounts?

Is there anything available which would let me mount a SATA HD in the front of my case, i.e. where the CD bays are and which would internally connect to the SATA ports?

Basically, I'd like to be able to remove the drive easily if I ever want to take large files with me. An external enclosure is a solution but as it would be connected to my computer 99% of the time I may as well take advantage of the full speed - my motherboard (Asus A8N-E) doesn't support eSata as far as I know.

Failing that I guess I could just hang wires out the front :p.

Thanks :)

I'd still go down the external caddy route, something like an IcyDock MB559. It's eSATA but it comes with a PCI bracket that routes an internal SATA port outside, I use one that way for my backup HDD and it's a great wee unit. There is a cheaper IcyBox eSATA caddy but it's not as flexible because you need to dismantle it to switch between the USB and eSATA connections, with the IcyDock you just use whichever you need.

Yes for fitting a 3.5" HDD in a 51/4" Optical bay but being SATA, there hard to get, I know one of MOD's here asked about one a while back, plenty of EIDE ones though.

That does look quite tempting, I mainly wanted an internal one to save on desk space. Surely it would also save on power, or would the power-brick only need to draw the same amount as the PSU connector would?

The mods obviously have power beyond the forums, seems OCUK have SATA internal caddies now

Only problem with those is you need a matching caddy at wherever you want to take the disk.
I completely forgot to check OcUK, though I couldn't think of their name anyway.

An IDE one wouldn't support hotswapping would it? It would be a pain to have turn off the computer to remove the drive.

I suppose another solution would be to just buy a caddy and use a spare hard drive and get another to add to my PC (I'm wanting more space which is why I wondered about an external drive).

Near enough, there are some extra bits of electrickery and the access LED to power beyond the drive but not enough to be noticeable.

That sounds fine then. Looks like I'll have to decide on what to do then :D.

Thanks :).
