Edge reviews Halo 3.

Hang on, could you be a little more clear on this? Are you saying that those of us who don't rate it are haters and are wrong? Explain please.

I'm saying the people who are saying it's a bad game are wrong. It may not be their cup of tea, but saying it's a bad game is wrong. The wealth of options and depth of multilpayer make it a great game. It's whether or not you enjoy it that is the issue.

I don't like Half-Life 2 for example, however I would never say it's a bad game. It clearly isn't, I just don't enjoy it as much, core gameplay wise I can see why it's praised so highly.

My comment was in regards to Mephisto and his comments.

I played Warhawk the other night and for the first time I though 'This is brilliant', it took me a few hours to get like that, so it's definitely a great game, however I'm bowled over and blown away by what Halo3 offers in terms of depth in multiplayer.

It's brilliant.

However, I do see JBeck's point, it is very much each to their own. There are many popular games I've played and I just can't understand where the praise comes from (Resistance [in Single Player] being one of them), it really is each to their own.

Fair comment. I'd like to give this Halo 3 a go - I'm going round a friends house on Sunday who has a 360 - I'll check that he's got it and give it a go.

Fair enough. for what it's worth, I don't think it's a 'bad' game, I just think it's 'ok', nothing more.

I found Halo3 definitely has a curve that could ward people off at first. Having not played Halo2 in multiplayer (bar on PC) I was thrown in at the deep end and couldn't get away with it, but after perservering and seeing the playing styles required etc.. it's great. The weapon balance is fantastic.

lol, after reading back what I typed I can see why it came off arrogant, that's not how it was intended at all :(. I genuinely meant it as I explained up there).

That's why I asked for you to explain, It didn't seem your usual type of statement :)

People are saying it's a bad game because they saw a few reviews that went under 95% - this gave them the perception that Halo isn't the perfect game and thus not met the hype, so it's a 'bad' game. It's happening all over. There are people who have found 90/100 reviews and even quoted them, saying the game is rubbish and has not met the hype. It's ****ing stupid.

I'd completely agree. There are just people who hate Halo. I've said this before, I'd guess 9 out of 10 people who hate Halo are all people who played it on PC first.

Don't spoil the thread by doing your usual thing. I was making references to the game in question. You offered nothing to the discussion and as usual, you made a comment about me instead. Go away.

I meant as in, why isn't he in here talking about what an awesome game it is. I couldn't give a flying **** about the haters, they're wrong. I hope you're enjoying it matey. Do you think it's better than Halo 2?

I know, I was just saying how I felt about it :)

Any arguement I put forth gets dismissed and then I get called a fanboy for defending Halo. People say there is nothing new to the game, I suggest 4 player co-op, equipment, forge, saved films etc and the reply I get is "Oh that just doesnt interest me" then it all starts again "Nothing new to the game"

And yes, its miles ahead of Halo 2 :)
-Forge lets you edit maps to fit you're particular game type an example is Infection on High ground where you can baracade the entrances to the base with random crap so the Zombies have a harder time getting inside
-Saved films are excellent, I saved some amazing games from last nights rocket-race(s) that I have yet to watch and edit
-Have yet to try co-op since most people I usually play with have already done it, but I am looking forward to trying it someday.
-The Multi-player is more or less the same as Halo 2 but more polished, balanced (no more green blobs following you half way across the map) and best of all no glitches that people can take advantage of! :D (BxR, Super Jump etc)
-The new Bungie.net is great with its new stat tracking, it shows all your medals you've ever earned, how many total kills+deaths you've got and you can sort them even further by game type and even what map.
-The customization is immense too much for me to explain anyway, you can change everything from health, speed and even mavity
-I like most of the maps I've played so far (apart from 1 which is down to not knowing the layout yet)

As stated earlier it's all very well but if forge, films etc don't interest you (like me) then what's left? Just another shooter really. Co-op saves the game for me personally, just the social thing of going through the game together is fun.

Kalanium, you have to realize there are some people out there who just don't like Halo even though they have never touched such a thing. I think Nintendo summed it up best in their Super Paper Mario game;

I love going on message boards and complaining about games I've never played!

I played Halo on PC first and then I bought an Xbox for Halo 2 when it came out :) I spent months playing it with mates on PC. I still havent played Halo 1 on Xbox simply because I've played the single player many times on PC (that and I've heard of nothing but problems with 50Hz and VGA, which I use). I know its meant to be miles better but I liked it on PC so whats it matter :p

The Xbox version didnt have Xbox Live which I think was its only let down :(
