Recommend me a SatNav

other than the update problems that a few units have had, please elaborate as to why it is crap? It's quick, easy to follow and does everything you could want? It's the best sat nav i've used to date, but maybe there is a hidden bug that's gonna creep up on me but so far so good, let me know the problems

Considering I drive more miles in a month than most do in a year, I get by perfectly well without a sat nav.
Keeping your eyes on the road rather than a small screen with Yodas voice? you make your own choice pal.
Maps don't get uspet by atmospherics / built up areas either.
You can get map updates from the website (not sure of costs)
You got to pay annually although its only £19 I think.

Simple, I don't need to look at a map every 10 seconds to follow it, takes practice but is easy - after a few years......

I work at an electronics retailer and I deal with all the returns. By far the most unreliable Sat nav brand is Tom Tom. The main problems that arise is the software on the SD Card going corrupt. The 910 is exempt since it uses an internal 20GB Hard drive.
I'm constantly having to reset the units for customers, because they won't switch on.
The performance of the integrated hands free is terrible. It's to quiet and the internal microphone isn't worth having, and it's only half duplex.
There are many better units on the market and one of them is the Go 720.
The new Tom Tom range, that is the One V3 and Go 520 & 720 have free map updates for a period of 12 months
i just got a tomtom 520. impressed to death with it. totally cool.
i even imported my own picture instead of the little arrow you get by default. it is a shot of the back of my vehicle, so my tomtom shows my own vehicle going along the road.
makes me laugh every time i see it.
and speed camera warnings are superb. you've got to pay for this (about 20 quid i think) but excellent and never misses a camera (i used to have an expensive snooper gps system for this and it missed cameras all the time) and every time you connect your tomtom to the pc docking thingy, it will update the cameras and maps.
only problem i have is that my nokia n95 is too new for the thing. i've been in touch with them and they are working on making it compatible, but who knows how long that will take, which means that for the moment i can't very easily use the handsfree calling and gprs transmitted traffic reports features, as connection (bluetooth) is very unstable.

you have to photoshop that picture like. take a shot of your vehicle, and remove everything but the vehicle. then fill the background with rgb 255 000 000 (i think).
there are instructions within the tomtom home software.
