Kwik Fit stole my bracket!

the only time ive ever used krap fit was on a sunday as no other tyre place was open , lukly i knew the lad who worked there and watched everthing he did.

They're the only place where i've even got a chance of it being fixed for free, so yes. Plus, in shocking news, they've actually not even put up a fight. of course, it can't go 100% smoothly, and they managed to not order all the parts from bmw so it's going to take until friday, but, so far, so good...
 
Hmm whenever i go to a garage i always watch what they're doing and don't usually stop asking questions. I like to keep them under a bit of pressure... :)
 
I heard all Kwik-Fit employees have to urinate in the exhaust. Just a rumour you know.

Anyway, I told you it was sounding mental after you'd had it done first time, monks the lot of em.
 
I had a mid box replaced on my old 406 estate a few years ago at kwik fit.

next day had to take it to another branch (near work) as it was blowing. apparently they had put the wrong bracket on it - fixed for free (obviously).

over the next 4 months I had 3 new mid boxes fitted (for free) as they started to sound like a bin full of spanners within a short period of time. I had endless hassles getting the work done. They seemed more interested in fitting some uber exhaust to their mates car most of the time.

stay clear.
 
yeah, lesson's definitely been learned, and i won't be going there again when this is fixed, for anything.
 
Hilarious update!

The bracket arrived today. they fitted it. all hunky dorey. as they drove the car down off the ramp, i thought i saw a bit of metal hanging a bit low beneath the car, but figured there's no way they'd be that stupid so drove off. went over a speed bump, heard a metal-being-twisted sound, went straight back to them and somehow the heat shield on the cat had come off. the guy swore it was fine when he got out from under the ramp to lower it back down, so how it happened is a mystery. what with the cat being new too, it's all a bit odd.

so now it's time for another new cat! woe is me...

I know my local tyre shop is great, ok.. I normally buy quite expensive tyres like Pilot sports 2's for my BMW, but recently I wanted a puncture repair, and some tyres swapping onto different rims.

They fixed the puncture, and swapped over all the tyres, and balanced everything up.

The price.. £5 for the repair, I said what about the swapping, and rebalancing... oh dont worry about that they said... no charge. Guess it helps that I've used the same tyre place for over 10 years though :)

Same here,my dads used the same place for a good few years now and my brother went with two illegal tyres and the other two being ok he was looking at getting two new ones. He asked how much for one £45....."I'll just take 4 then...." guy did it for £120 i would say thats not bad and now all tyres and totally legal.

Kwik Fit is to cars what Halfords are to bikes tbh....maybe worse.
 
I just found out, that about 2 years ago when longlife did my exhaust, they used a jubilee clip instead of a proper rubber hanger!

What's worse is, they must have gotten bored tightening it, and half way through they just got some pilers and squeezed it in the middle, over time this was getting pulled back out so my exhaust was knocking and the metal clip was making funny sounds against the metal hangars! took me a while to find out where that bloody noise was coming from! not pleased!!

i used to have a 1975 range rover, yep it liked punctures shredded a tire n cheapest i could get quick was from kwik-fit. so i got it to my horror they seemed to think that my car was ok running a tire with no tube.
another 1 i did my sisters brakes on her cavalier and she needed a new tire so went there, and guess what she needed new pads as well lol
i threatened to punch the manager through the wall, when i found out all this and for some strange reason he wasnt there anymore
