2900pro price increase

was going to get one but not now being price raped.november is looking very good for new releases of similar type cards.

Similar but either slower or more expensive

ok you beleive what you want .if these sell out are they gunna just role over let nvidia win our just rebadge name another product in(same card section) in a months time that will be as fast i bet you they do for the same price.all the big games are out next month they havent been looking at this at all(of course they havent )ill wait thank you for four weeks get a better value card there seems to be plenty of news about new releasing now and no shops are going to tell you otherwise are they or nobody would buy these.or by some magic another thousand are found from somewhere in stock that didnt exist and are a lot cheaper just before the release of a slightly faster ati cards new release around november.

Be whether they are available for sale for one month or a year they are exceptional value for money since they are basically a 2900 xt for a dirt cheap price.

Okay, i'd be tempted to wait as well to see what next month brings since it's only a month but from the rumours it isn't looking good. Both Nvidia and ATI seem to be pitching all their new cards at the low or middle end of the range which to be fair is where they make all their money from. You think sales of 8800 GTX keep nvidia afloat? Nope, it's how many 8800 GTS, 8600 and 8400 cards they are selling which make them their money.

If the 2900 pro disappears you will be kicking yourself cause you will be paying more money for something as fast. On the other hand if it's still there then you'll still be able to get one.

And I do think Gibbo is fairly honest and is really telling the truth about the numbers of 2900 pros available. Hell, they would still be selling them by the bucket loads even if it wasn't true since for the money you wouldn't buy a 8800 GTS or 2900xt at the moment so if you're in the market for a high end card it's either 2900 pro or 8800 GTX (if you can afford it)

Priced raped is only a few quid - hardly a rape.

I only mentioned it simply because it took 'me' over my financial threshold of getting one, as you have to factor in postage as well. It's still a darn good deal however.

Went ahead and bought the HIS 2900 Pro, rather than the Sapphire, reckoned the few extra £s was worth it for the HIS, as it comes with a few games....should be here today with me....

well im thinking that nvidia will either lower 8800gts range price or bring out a different card to compete with it. in the end id rather have a nvidia card even if performance is little under cause had nothing but trouble with ati drivers.

Well rumour has it they are bringing out a faster 8800 GTS but I suspect it will be more money than the current GTS.

Well that's why there's a 8800GT coming at the end of this month (or is it the next?) Think it will replace the 8800GTS 320Mb but not sure.

Got my HIS ATI 2900 Pro today and installed it, on XP Pro SP2, however, it will not let me run 3DMark06, 05 or 03, (I can install them, but having opened the utility, the Splash screen appears and goes no further) but it does let me run 01 (and gave me a lowish score), do these utilities need DX10 to run or is it something else?

You need a patch for 3dmark, due to a problem with it detecting HD2900 series clock speeds (causing the crash)

no...if you look on 3dmark website there are solutions under the FAQ...

all you have to do is rename 1 of the .dll's...cant remember which, sorry but take a look and it will work for ya. same problem for me!

What utility would I use to O/C it, tried ATI Tool (latest version) it would not start, just a white blank (small) window...what about RivaTuner?

Yeah the latest ATT doesn't support 2900s, tried AMD GPU clock tool but it just crashes as soon as I launched the program.

Here is the "fix" for the problem with 3DMark06 (when used with 2900 Pro)

...This is a known issue and we have been able to reproduce it in our test lab. The problem lays in an DLL which we use to detect the graphics cards' core and memory speeds. We are working on an update to correct this issue after which all Futuremark benchmarks should run fine with the latest offerings from all IHV's. Until then you can work around this issue either by renaming the "Direcpll.dll" file (found in %WINDIR%\system32\Futuremark\MSC\) to something else, or you can run the benchmark using the -nosysteminfo command line. Please note that if you use the -nosysteminfo command line, you will not be able to publish the result online. Futuremark will inform all its users when the update is available!

The above fix works fine, gave me a 3DMark06 score of 10,572....

Just to vouch for OCUK on this one, but when I got my 8800 GTS I was supposed to have a game with it, but it wasn't in the contents of the box, I mailed them, and hours later got a reply, they sent me the game FIRST CLASS and I recieved it the next day.
