Anyone here play guitar??

How much would you reccommend spending on one though?

well it kinda depends on what you want out of it. If you just want a good guitar that's nothing special, or something more unique, or more exotic etc...

personally I'm pretty tight and can't justify spending thousands and thousands on a guitar. Although I would if I had more money.

Yeah im the same, i paid like 70 for mine, and that pushed me lol!!

For my next one, when im better at playing, id like a unique one, one thats worth some, but not a lot, exotic would be an advantage, nice colour, rare colour, theme, look, standard shape, im not into other shapes...

Id quite like a guitar from an artist... i.e. james morrison someone like that, his is plain but its his...

Mines redburst, ill post some photos later, but you can see what im looking for.

well if it's looks you're bothered about, it's your opinion really.

But i really like some the Ibanez S series guitars, and the JS sig seriers, both really comfy to play with.

my next guitar I will build myself, well I'll get a paddlestock head stock, and by a lump of some exoctic wood, and carv it into a nice shape. :) that's the plan anyway.

I used to like the wolfgang's until there were dc'ed.

What do you do for a living? carpenter? how you going to manage to make one?

An architect. And I'm fairly handy, sure it won't be that nice finish, but It will be unique. I havn't really fort it through though, its just an idea atm.

My first electric was a Peavey Raptor, It was my main guitar for nearly 4 years.

liking the artistic last shot.

guitar looks quite nice and smart. My experience with Stagg's is pretty good, for the price anyway. All my guitar stands and music stands etc. are stagg lol

I dont have any pics of my guitars, I'll take some when i get round to it.

I did have a pic of my amp setup, if i can find it....

It took a while, i just had a thought, ive seen pictures like it, on websites, mags etc... so i thought id have a shot and i got that from it, my fav is the second one, it really catches the colour... and i love the colour, the 3rd one is good, literaly just taken it, wanted to show off with the plec hanging from thw string and tht hehe.

All in all i think its nice, although i would say that wouldnt i...

post the link.

it sounds like you're doing all down strokes, try varying it a little, and the timing needs a bit of work. but the guitar seems to have a nice tone. Just try and nail wild thing.

try tapping your foot.

Today ive been doing a lot of upstrokes, i couldnt do it and today ive kind of mastered it, ive changed my plec and i seem to play a lot better with a better tone, and when im on a roll i tend to tap my foot, dont know why.. but it helps me when im playing...

Yeah, I tap my foot a lot.... helps me keep count. I also nod my head a fair bit, pull funny faces and often stick my tongue out when playing too.

Lol thats crazy, i tend to have a serious look, like im really really concentrating, i tend to look away from the guitar aswell and imagine it in my head, makes it easier to remember movements, chords, strumming, its all coming together slowly now...

I've been playing just over a year now. I practice at least 4 times a week for around 30 mins each time and I'm still pretty bad. I don't progress very well though, if I find something hard I tend to give up pretty easily and it takes me a while to finally get it nailed but then seem to go on rolls of improving.

Buy a three chord strum along song book, or a book that has chords to play along with modern songs (rather than the full tab). These are great fun ways to learn new chords and expand your repertoire :)

I'm Naffa, and I play the guitar. I've been playing for around four years and three months, but I've only started taking it REALLY seriously in the last ten or so months.

I love playing all kinds of music, from jazz to metal, from country to rock. Primarily I'm a fingerstyle guitarist. People that influence my fingerstyle playing that you *may* have heard of include: Tommy Emmanuel, Martin Taylor, Chet Atkins, Michael Hedges, Jerry Reed, Justin King, Andy McKee, Don Ross, Merle Travis, Gareth Pearson, and so on. I'm also influenced by many other styles of musician, and types of music. People such as Zakk Wylde, Jimi Hendrix, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, Jack Bruce, James Brown, The Sugarhill Gang, Extreme, Albert Lee, Stevie Wonder, Chris Cornell, Eric Clapton, etc. I try and portray all, or most, of my influences in the music that I play. That tends to be difficult as I enjoy quite a diverse influence, and taste in music.

I'm not sure if you're interested in any of that, but you asked so there you go. :)

Ive taught myself for about 2yrs, starting lessons tomorrow! :D

Im quite chuffed with my progress, can play various metal songs, havent had a go at any solos yet, to much of a wuss, ha.

As someone has probably said, practice, practice practice, oh and practice. If you want to be any good then play almost everyday for at least 30mins :)

If you like Metallica, I reccomened 'Enter Sandman', its pretty easy to play and sounds cool!

I found Metallica great to practice to. I used to play Master of Puppets, Disposable Heroes and Leper Messiah over and over. Great to get your technique up.
