Oh right. I hardly buy brand name clothes because I'm not rich enough or a Muppet. You buy some and tell us. IF they are knock off ring your local TS office.

The tshirts on these sites are the same price as all the tshirts I've seen in non-designer shops like Topman, River Island, and in many cases cheaper. The designer jeans on mandmdirect.com are around the same price as jeans from River Island, slightly more expensive than Topman. You don't have to be completely loaded to buy them, and if you can get designer for about the same price as regular, you might as well.

Not sure if you are saying people who wear brand name clothing are muppets or if you are saying "I'm either not rich enough or I'm a muppet".

If it is the former why not go all out and say "I'm jealous of people who wear brand name clothing". Actually, let me guess, you are not jealous you just object to people having expensive stuff for no reason, yeah?

personally I actively avoid brand name clothing. I can easily afford it, but I don't really see the point.

If i'm going to wear the same clothes as everyone else, I don't see why I should pay a premium to provide free advertising for the pleasure.

They are usually made with better quality materials, they fit better, and are generally more comfortable than regular clothes.

It's like saying you are rich enough to buy a Ferrari but you'd rather have a Rover. A Ferrari is superior in every way.

No Marky Mark. I just find it odd some people would rather spend more money on clothes just because it says bensemen, nike, Levi, Calvin Kline or whatever rather than saving the money for more essential. It's all swings around abouts, Yo.

If people have the money to buy branded clothes, they probably don't need to save their money for essential things. I haven't got any bills to pay, don't need to buy food, I don't have a family to support. I'm a carefree 16 year old without anything more essential to pay for. Is it odd that I want to buy branded clothes?

clearly not. I can't get my shopping in a ferrari, and my car gets far, far better mileage than a ferrari.

its also cheaper to insure, repair, tax...
Ferraris also have an image attatched to them that I, personally, would rather avoid. Its like porsches- lovely cars, but the general opinion is that they are owned by tossers.

brand name clothing (depending on brand) also has an 'image' attached to it. Again, one I'd rather avoid generally. I have a style of my own that doesn't require some company logo splashed accross it. Each to thier own I suppose, but paying to advertise a brand is, in my opinion, a mug's game.

as for better made...I beg to differ. Most 'brand name' clothing is made from cheap materials in a sweatshop somewhere.

If I was going to spend lots of money on clothes, I'd go to a tailor and have some made. Quality materials, guaranteed fit, and better service you could not want.

None of this 'snotty disenfranchised teenage sales assistant lurking in the corner of a horribly laid out garish hellhole, pumping out the latest in headache inducing noise whilst being jostled by all those terribly trendy individuals, hell bent on buying the same tshirt as everyone else because they saw it on mtv' for me, thankyouverymuch.

If you are buying a ferrari, these aren't going to make any difference to you, which is part of my point.

The materials cost nowhere near as much as the clothes get sold, but the leather is real, the suede and cotton feel nicer, etc. The cuts fit the target buyers of their clothes better than the average Brit who is getting fatter.

Fair enough. :)

I've not been to a tailor, but do they design clothes, or just make them?

I'm buying online. :p

well, you did say that a ferrari is superior in every way. For that kind of money I'd rather have a bentley or a roller.

As for buying online...you have a point. You and your new fangled shenannigans :p

However, my point still stands- I refuse to pay to advertise for a company, espaecially whan i have to pay a premium to do so.

A tailor to make you some jeans? and or a nice going out shirt? It doesnt have to show a huge logo to be brand name, most of the up market stuff is quite concealed, im not sure what you are referring to really.

You sound like a narked off 50 year old dad that hates buying his kid the latest stuff :). I will quite happily spend 100 quid on a pair of jeans if they fit and look good, they dont have big logo's on them thats not what you pay for.

Buying Branded Clothes usualy means that less people will be wearing the same clothes. I hate it when your round town and your wearing something from Topman or Officers club and you see 10+ people with the exsact same clothes as you on.

When I bought a red and white striped polo from Topman, I saw 7 other people wearing it on the same day - this is in Oxford, a small city. It was my favourite top until then...
