What is the best provider for:

a) gaming
b) uploading
c) downloaing

I'm currently have ADSL MAX 8mb averaging around 600KB/s on a normal day, 200KB/s upload.

So whats the best provider for the above, or is they a magic mighty one thats great for all?

Depends with up/down loading do you want massive speeds, massive data allowances or both?

well, hit me with some ideas, speed is important, the GB allowance isnt so important, say 15-20gb per month tops.

i havent heard much good about bulldog, well, not when i looked a year ago.
something just isnt appealing about AoL.
I'd like one also with steady ping times as I hate lags during play =(

UkOnline:

  • Just 19.99/month for 8Mbit (which i have)
  • Or £24.99/month for 22Mbit
  • Always get low pings, around 5-20 for me on UK servers
  • Always get max speeds whether peak or off peak
  • Never randomly disconnects
  • No download limit

Not sure what else I can say to big it up :p

guess ping times aren't my real worry

UKOffline you mean?:p

UKFSN for the win:D:D:D

If you can get Bethere as an LLU provider on your exchange, get that. If not, get Entanet (ADSL24/UKFSN/Titan etc.)

Very good network for gaming, lots of good game hosting companies have direct peering into them. No traffic shaping at all- use it how you want. Generous bandwidth caps, 330Gb off peak so just use a schedualed torrent client and download overnight.

Be unlimited 24Meg, synced at 19.8 Mbit downstream and 1.4 Mbit up on Fastpath (no interleaving).

Cant agree more, i have been with them after moving from UKFSN and get really low pings to most UK servers.
