I dont think you can you will need to get the US version or get the trail and pay via that.

For the 5th Aniversiry Mythic put in zone bonuses which are -

All Servers Except Mordred

- All Classic and Shrouded Isle zones (terrain and dungeon, including epic zones):
-50% extra experience
-Double coin drops

- All RvR zones (terrain and dungeon, including battlegrounds):
-Double experience
-Double coin drops

- Forest Sauvage, Snowdonia, Uppland, Yggdra Forest, Cruachan Gorge, and Mount Collory:
-25 percent extra realm points.

If you have been away from daoc for ages then you get a free lvl every 7 days and on the classic server cluster if you go a hib you get one every 3 days.

Combine all that with the xp from task dungeons from catacombs you can lvl up fast.

Pfft! Sorry have to disagree with you there. The travelling sucked (i.e. horses turning at 90 degree angles). If you were a Wizard then if you were casting a spell and you got hit that was it - spell 'fumbled'.

If you died you lost a lot of XP and that meant doing the same thing over and over again.

I only played it for the first few months when it was released - after that I never bothered so it may well have changed.

Its changed now, traveling is faster, there are loads of npcs who can port you to different areas and you can now get your own mount.

If you rvr as a wizard you can get mastery of concentration which lets you nuke while getting hit. You can also get concentration skill that refreshes your quick cast timer.

Dieing is not as harsh you can still lvl up quick.

Best MMORRPG ever! Played this for far too long with my wife. I almost signed up again before i subbed up for EQ2 a few months ago but the EU servers were completely dead. I didn't know about the US classic server unfortunately.

I used to like the hardness of it back in the day, the long treks and horse journeys from cornwall right up to the top left fort (can't remember name). Losing XP, spending hours on the shredders in DF only to be wiped a few times and losing everything you earned. Not being able to cast when getting hit etc. A proper game

Almost tempted to resub to US classic just for RvR but if i can't do it with my existing UK copy then i probably won't bother.

Get the US trail and just sub from that, you get catacombs expansion thrown in, tempted to sign up again myself for a short spell.

The catacombs expansion was good, it added task dungeons which gave good xp, good quests, champion weapons , champion abilities, mounts with customisable armour and saddle bags oh and new classes hetertic, vamp, valkyrie ,warlock ,vampire and banshee.

Chaos - I closed my US accounts a few months ago, oddly enough they've made the game a lot more FUN. Especially on the US classic server, where I enjoyed playing as I ended up only being able to run one account on my PC

Good times, would still be playing if I hadn't moved into a tiny flat with my wench!

Yeah I played to just before the latest expansion, I think my old guilds still might be around Section Nine on alb lamo then as I left my friends joined Sleeping Dragons on mid gareth.

No I went back to certainly the best MMORPG - Asherons Call where PvP was not just a case of doing specific sequences of button presses (ala most, if not all, RPG's these days) and also it had the best combat I've ever played in an MMO - you can physically dodge, run off, portal recall, heal, etc. without the need for several different classes off character.

Thanks, it was spending money initially i was against. I'm going to try it tonight. I take it catacombs or the new expansion aren't applicable to the classic server? Is spellcrafting in it or not? Prefered it when it wasn't.

Catacombs and the new expansion are on clasic server, only thing that isnt is trails of atlantis.

I think spellcrafting is still there, but they updated the lvl 50 epic armour so its a lot better than it was.

All signed up, downloaded and patched, ran through the tutorial and am going to give it a proper go tomorrow. Have decided on a Friar (me) + Wizard (wife) combo just like we did many moons ago when we first started playing. The wife even got her original name but i had to butcher my old one a bit.
