Anyone ever got a penalty fare/fine on the DLR or Tube?

i just read the whole thread...and you certainly DONT deserve the £20 back...in the link you posted about the station theres clearly a tick next to ticket machine, so what was stopping you from buying a paper ticket from there for your journey i dont know....doesnt matter what the staff member shoulda/woulda/coulda done

i only read pages 1 and 2 and tbh mate youve said that you went on to the train in the hope of seeking assistance because there was none at the station. for a start why did you not go and find the inspector rather than let him come to you? that might have made your case more believable. this argument about being a tourist is ridiculous your english, you can speak the language and can therefore read the signs. the only argument you seem to have At All is the fact that the inspector threatened you with a court order which is definatly in line for disciplining. other than that you sound like a child complaining because you had to pay like all the other boys!

just read page 3. cannot believe you got refunded. i guess thats another win for the people who dodge the system and complain and moan and a loss again for the people who go about everyday paying as they should.
i do hope you realise that this refund therefore means you did not actually pay for your days travel? its fascinating to see you're so happy with yourself

In my experience of the DLR by sitting at the front of the train i had the most chance to see an attendant considering they came on to use the tannoy and/or drive the train.

That child just got his £20 back. Ner ner ner ner! *sticks tongue out*

I really dont want to get into the whole argument again. As far as i'm concerned it's cut and dry. I was hard done-by, i've appealed and got my money back. The people that matter have made the decision and that's that. Some people in the thread genuinely wanted to see if i did get my money back, so i've posted.

Sounds about right from anecdotes of friends - if it's genuinely a bit of a mix-up and you don't have any 'priors', then they are pretty good. Glad it was sorted out :)

Sorry to go off topic, but RichL, I see you are now unbanned; does this mean that you have sorted out your differences with OCUK?

Also happy to see you get the fair back, just read through the whole thread, get the train regularly from a semi staffed station and have on occasion had to complain about similar issues (including some time ago being denied a half probably the only 15yr old to file a complaint lol ). People on this forum although giving a very honest reflection can be a bit self-righteous and if anyone has never done something similar than im a little worried.
