He's got a point though Drexel. How many holidays did you have this year? Wheres your DC5 Teg? etc etc.

That said I'll probably end up changing my mind once I get to 30 :p

25 I guarantee, once you leave the university bubble prioritys do change.

According to somebody in this thread though, having kids leaves no spare time or money to enjoy time to himself, time with his mates, or time to his enjoy his hobby of cars?

But he was also basically saying that it kills any freedom and social life, and that is simply incorrect.

actually if you read back

i dont state it left me no time to myself. I said it left me no time to go hooning round like a boy racer. I allready mentioned i go out with my mates, i even mentioned we usually take his car because its a Octavia VRS ! i also have hobbies of my own etc.. and can actually share them with my family. We do still go out together on our own without the little un. I said i had very little time to drive on my own during the week. Im either stuck in the rush hour, or with my kid. Thats not to say i cant go out with my other half after hes gone to bed though. But if your going cinema with your other half, again your not going to be driving it like a boy racer because your other half is with you.

its just i havent got hours of spare time to go hooning round back roads driving my car in a spirited way on my own.

theres a big difference between "i dont go driving round like a boy racer anymore" and "ive become a slave to my family"

we could live in a 2 bed semi, £100k, £400ppm mortgage,

ha !!

chance would be a fine thing. You sir have got a quote for an "interest only mortgage"

which nobody takes because you never actually pay off the debt. And if you've no intention of paying off the debt, you leave yourself wide open for much bigger problems

a mortgage for 100k is not 400 / month. especially in the current credit climate with banks wary of lending to sub prime lenders.

women are the same fox. You say now there are plenty of woman who dont want a child. your basing this on your survey of your female friends your age. The ticking body clock starts ticking. by the time they get to about 26/27 its like big ben ringing in their ear. At 22/23 yeah they've got no interest, but it wont allways be like that.

think about it fox, its biological. If women didnt have a natural instinct to reproduce and have children, the human race would have died out eons ago. its why its there. and unless a woman physically cant have children, very few woman get to 30 without at least wanting kids, even if its not right now sort of thing.

You just have to laugh at Fox and Russ..

Having less disposable income means little..

I'm with Drexel on this one, I still manage to have a sports bike, got out down the pub twice a week for a couple of beers, still going out on the lash once or twice a month, still take the missus out once a week without the kids...

Having kids may take up 'some' of your time, and take 'some' of your money, but quite frankly the positives outweight the cons dramatically..

You always cut your suit according to your cloth, that doesn't stop you enjoying yourself..

So what are the positives of having 3 kids and a diesel van to carry them in at 22? :D

1. Scalextrix
2. 200BHP Bus that is a great 'sleeper'..
3. Nintendo Wii..

But to name a few ;)

lol the figures i posted were purely examples showing that a 50% increase in house price for a larger house meant a 50% increase in mortgage payments (the larger house being what you would more than likely need with the extra kids to house) and that personally i would rather have that extra £200 or whatever it equiates to, to spend on luxuries as opposed to essentials.

As stated everyones priorities are different, im clearly selfish and will die a loanly old man.

i also accept that some people can afford to have the best of both, the kids, the holidays, the cars and the house. I however couldnt with mine and the gf's current salaries, so for me it makes no sense whatsoever to have kids.

^ just doesnt do it for me im afraid, if the gf came round tonight and said she was pregnant it would make me feel physically sick.

edit - if she does come round and say that tonight its gonna be a bit of a blow lol

great. you've made your point that you don't want kids. now you're just being annoying. please shut up. :)

oh, and your gf is pregnant, i knocked her up a few weeks ago. my bad.

^just simply trying to reply to other peoples comments.

Good job your parents didn't think like that then. Or are they stupid for having kids too:confused:

OCUK forums, any opinion welcome as long as it is that of the majority

People are naturally defensive about choices they make in life and try to justify them in any way possible. Just look at a Mac vs PC thread for an example! Unfortunately though, parents aren't able to return their kids or upgrade them for a better model in a year or so and are ten times worse at justifying to everyone why their choice is the correct one. ;)
