Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be free

As i mentioned on the other thread im very wary of this 1080p 60 frames and 16 cars. All of a sudden the PS3 via Polphony have doubled the PS3's power, summits not right?
I guess that they can possibly do it as GT5 is designed just for the PS3 instead of for the PC and Xbox360 as well, so they can make full use of the Cell processor without having to find a way to make it run on other CPU's/GPU's as well.

I also think that development started some time before the PS3 was released as they will have known the hardware specs before that.

Also GT games have very little stuff next to the track so I don't think it is very GPU intensive.

i wish they would just concentrate on the full game instead of drip feeding all these demos, i thought GT:HD was a little pointless but this is taking the biscuit. Dont get me wrong cant wait for the ful version.

Yes but at some stage in development basically what they had done was i suppose scrapped to a certain extent. It may of been the engine but im sure something severe as GTHD was always originally on the cards as the next GT.

That really was just a PC style high resolution GT4 with additional tracks.
Even on the PC youd be hard pushed (well honestly you wont find) a racing game with 16 cars 1920x1080 res with the lighting shading and 200,000 poly cars that this game is boasting about. Add to that a new AI system.

I dont doubt the system can do it but when i look around and see many other games struggling at this stage of PS3 development particulary to reach 60 frames then im sitting on the fence untill i see the game running. I couldnt care less if its 720p or 1080p if anything offer me the 720p and 4xAA and id have it.

if anyone can optomise a racer to the max its thos guys though

just think how much better than any other race game the original gran turismo looked , was jaw dropping at the time

It would be good if you payed say £15 for prologue and then that was taken into account when buying the full game when it comes out (Like supplying you a £15 money off GT5 voucher with prologue)

Anyway From IGN:

UK, August 29, 2007 - Sony has confirmed that European PlayStation 3 owners can get behind the wheel of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue toward the end of the year. This taste of Sony's first true next-gen GT is scheduled for release on both Blu-Ray and PlayStation Network.

While Prologue is heading to PSN, it won't be free like the previously released Gran Turismo demo However, both versions do include more than 40 cars, as well as offering the chance to go head-to-head with fellow speed freaks in 16-player online races.

i admit paying 25 quid ish for gt4 prologue on release :( one of worst things ive ever bought lol , wish i rented it now

the making of dvd was ok actually

I consider GT4 HD to be a demo as it only has one track but 5 tracks and 50 cars is a lot more than a demo.
Don't count your chickens, it could be Suzuka GP, Suzuka GP reverse, Sukuza Club, Sukuza Club reverse and Suzuka Far Loop section, and the cars could include 10 Evos and 10 Imprezzas :D

A lot of people shelled out £20-odd for GT4:Concept which was along similar lines.

Kudos to Sony for making it free. They could have made a good deal of money out of it without a doubt.

They still will if people buy consoles because of the decision, if anything they should do much better this way, which is the whole point no doubt :)

For those with a Japanese PSN account the Demo of GT5 prologue ( demo of a demo?) Is supposed to be out on the 24th October not sure what the demo will contain but at least it will give us an idea of the GT5 and prologue.

Wonders how awkward it is to set up foreign accounts and if its still possible, mmmm

If you have to much hassle trying (its in the FAQ) i could share it if its possible with this demo version. But still not 100% it will work over here but all the other Japanese demos have done, also date was set a month ago so not cast in stone. Its due for release at the same time as the Tokyo Motor show and i know it features the new Nissan GT-R but unsure of any other details.
