Hi

Is an everage of 40fps low for Bioshock for my PC(sig)?. Runing at 1680x1050, everything on except vsync. Benchmarks i've seen are a lot higher:( Using forceware 163.69 and everytime I load the game vsync is on and I have to turn it off. The fps never goes above 60fps, could it be the SLI bug where when enabled it halfs the speed?

Thanks

Try running the game on 1 card first.

SLI @ 1680x1050 is pointless.

Cpu limitation here I'm afraid

SLI @ 1680x1050 is pointless.
- how so?

You should be getting way more than 40fps average... even without SLI you should be getting better than that... at 1920x1200 with all settings maxed one 8800 Ultra would give you 40fps average... so 2 of them in SLI at 1680x1050 should give a good 60+fps average.

Just tried it on my GX2 at 1680x1050 with all settings maxed and I get better than 40fps average running around arcadia which is probably the most performance heavy map in the game and as the 8800 Ultra gives about 30% higher FPS in BioShock you should be getting ~52fps with one of them.

Just had a thought - what is your multi-display acceleration mode setting? if its multi instead of single then that could be the cause of your fps drop...

Set the option to single display with no increase infps:( I loaded a saved game and with not much on screan its starts at 21fps. Should force global lighting be on or off?

Is that true for all games or just some? Should I disable SLI?

SLI and Vista has been a real problem for a while now and was only recently addressed in any serious way. To put it simply your 2x Ultras are a huge waste as one will do the job perfectly fine. Try disabling SLI, taking out a card, and seeing how it runs then.

Yeah SLI doesn't seem to be working too great under Vista64 in a lot of games...

SLI works great with BioShock in windows XP tho.
