ide channels

just wondering how many hd's you can have one each ide channel? there is only one ide channel on my mb, and i have two ide hd's plus a dvd writer that need to be attactched. anyway of doing this? my mb is an Abit IP35-E (Socket 775)

You could always purchase a PCI IDE card for your extra devices that the onboard IDE channel (which takes 2, master/slave) will not take...

Or buy an external case for one of the HDD's.

yeah could, but ive got a good 500gb's sitting here which i could reall use for media storage. looks like the pci card may be the best option. can you get sata connected dvd writers?

I only use SATA on my newest build. 2 x samsung DVD's and 2x hard drives. Nice thin cables. look far better than the huge IDE ones anyway.
