GT 5: Prologue Demo 20th Oct

It's not like most racing demos with 1 track, 2 cars and only 3 laps etc, it's a mini version of GT5 that's going to keep hundreds of thousands of fans entertained until the full game is released.

You hope :)

Anyway about the Demo, seems like its more than just a demo to me so probably ok to charge for it, but still a bit cheeky

I have absolutely no problem paying for Prologue. It's substantial enough
Indeed, even though it's slated as a demo, it's substantial enough to be a lot more and such may well deserve a small price tag.

I know lets wait till its out then criticise it for its short comings....

Not criticise it before it even arrives.
Again, spot on, but that's the problem with this forum. Most people criticise Sony before anything happens and they criticise them again when it's happened. I criticise MS from my personal experiences of them, simple as :) (the 360 as a games platform rocks though)

small price tag, so how about £5 instead of the suggested " most expensive 'demo' in history"

GT 5 Prologue, effectively the most expensive 'demo' in history

The price has been revealed for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue which is considered as a game sample and not strictly speaking a fully blown game. The Blu-ray version will be available for a converted price of $43.10 while the Network version will be available for $38.95 in Japan. Despite the game looking super slick, it will be limited in features, cars and tracks, is it really worth the price of a full game?

Hidden away in Sony's TGS catalog was a shocking revelation: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue's Japanese release date and price. Scheduled for December 13th, the game sample (demo, as we used to call) will retail for a whopping ¥4,980 ($43.10) on Blu-ray and ¥4,500 ($38.95) when downloaded through the PlayStation Store. Although the game will feature stunning graphics and many features of the final game, this seems as much too high for a game that has a limited track and vehicle selection. We hope that this kind of sticker shock doesn't come across the Pacific into other territories.

$38.95 is about £18.50 ish then, in which case it would have to be rather good. Still, nowhere near £44.99 for a full game. Only time and playing the 'demo' will tell, as to if it's a rip off or not.

Sony could charge what they want you would still applaud it (and slate MS), anyway will there be a free demo of the demo?

The typical idiotic reply from you, what a surprise. So if sony charged £99 for the demo I would applaud and slate MS would I? You are a womans breast (to put it kindly)

Thread title gives it away a little bit.;)

I don't know how I missed it!!! 20th is Saturday. USA/EU Store is updated Thursdays though.

I don't think we should have to pay £20 for prologue, although by the looks of it it offers a lot more than the previous GT concepts, which were kinda demos for GT3 and 4 (I am assuming they were priced at £20 i.e. 1/2 price of the full game).rologue anyway

Up until now PSN pricing has been very fair and better value than Live (imo) in terms of downloadable games but I think this should be £10. Warhawk was £20 and that is a "fully playable" game, this is still a demo.

Also, how much difference is thee going to be between the free demo and the £20 prologue? If the freebie is 3 tracks, 20 cars and, most importantly, 16 plyr online enabled, then I think a lot of people won't cough up for the "full" prologue which will be 5 tracks and 50 cars.

Has anyone got ideas on how well Warhawk did on download figures.

IIRC Sony did rather well with a £20 kinda game but not really a full game.
I bought it and have played it no more than 4 hours, but am i moaning no, why because i wanted to play it.

Why cant games/entertainment be seen sometimes as not necessarily long term entertainment. For instance a nice big curry or chinese, Pizza with a movie rental will set you back close to £20 but its one evenings entertainment/enjoyment.

Maybe i just look at games differently to some but i see it as entertainment and entertainment usually isnt free.
If it interests me and i have to pay for it well im not bothered, big deal anyways look how much most of us wasted on a PS3 in the first place...

While on the topic has anyone seen any recent videos or new pictures since TGS showcase?
I was trawling thru the Japanese PSN yesterday and I found a slightly different video than the ones I had seen so far, most is the same footage of Suzuka and the pits but it is edited differently.

hm some full games dont last more than 12-15 hours gameplay!

something like prologue can keep you entertained for a couple of months so i dont begrudge paying , its just that i would prefer not to obviously.

I personally can't wait for this, i don't care if it's considered a 'demo' or not i still plan on purchasing it as i honestly believe i will get hours and hours of amazing gameplay out of it!

In this day and age we should judge games on how much fun they are and how long they last not on if they are 'demos' or 'full games'. I personally thought that Warhawk was very limited, along the same sort of lines as prologue but i have played that game for so long that my fingers started to bleed! (slight exaggeration....) so i say bring it on!!

See you on the track ;)

Did nobody here have GT4 Prologue? Whilst it wasn't the longest game on Earth it was a decent showcase of the new engine, there were plenty of cars and plenty of challenges. It also counted towards GT4 licence tests too...

I paid my £20 odd on release of GT4P, and will be doing th esame again with GT5P, expecting a similar amount of content too.
