Well just received my copy of Transformers on HD-DVD and all I can say is it rocks.

Now I have only had a chance to test the main movie but the quality is outstanding and the details of the autobots is amazing especially when optimus transforms for the first time. I can't wait to watch this properly when I finish work. :D

Just wondering if any one else has ordered this or has it on pre-order.

I got mine this morning, and I'm not too pleased with the picture quality. It's awfully grainy in places and no where near the best looking transfer I was looking for.

I just lol'd @ timeline 2:07:20 when Megatron flicks a human onto a taxi :D

Perhaps your resolutions aren't that great. Whenever I see e.g. footy in pubs it's because of this, I only like the 1080i and hopefully if i ever see it the 1080p resolutions..

Another person has mentioned the grain too on the avforums.
There is definite grain in places on and off, most noticeable during dark scenes e.g the autobots arrival scene.

No where near the best transfer I've seen but what the hell. The sheer amount of extras make up for that. There's a trailer for Ironman on Disc1 due in 2008 - looks quality!

What resolution is that running at, and what are you using to play it? (that looks like some sort of media player?)

Toshiba HD-E1 @ 720p. Even on my 360 HD-DVD player it's almost the same, with slightly less grain in the darker scenes. No where near the best transfer I've seen.

My Transformers HD DVD was shipped last Friday by Movietyme but because our postmen are still on there 'unofficial' strike I am still yet too recieve it :( This post strike is starting to annoy me now

Just bought my copy of the MM, can't wait as I just got the Xbox HD drive and hooked it up to my pc, together with my 24" BenQ its epic!
The movie was crap but giant robots fighting gets my vote any day!;)

I want it so bad.

I thought it was a rather good all out action film
plus the acting wasnt as bad as I thought it would be, Shia is actually quite good, plus The Fox!

i have to say the bigger the screen the less you notice the grain or at least that is what I found when viewing a few key scenes that I noticed the grain on.

I have just got my tv back from repair and although it is at 1080i as opposed to 1080p on my 24" it is still a joy to watch. the level of detail on the robots is amazing and some of the close ups of the robots is fantastic. ILM and digital domain really did go to town on creating some truely spectactular sfx.

Yes it may not be the best transfer compared to say the matrix or v for vendetta but it is still a cut above a regular dvd and some other hd-dvd's. Who knows maybe the grain was intentional I'm yet to watch it with the commentary so will have to see if they mention anything about it in there.

Plus went through the second disk last night and have to say it was really good how they pulled off all the stunts and developed the concepts to achieve the final product. One of the few movies that I wanted to watch the special features just to get some more background and understand why and how they changed the transformers from the 80's cartoon that I know and loved as a kid to what it is now.

Although it may not be the most sparkling film in terms of dialogue or plot development it had some spectular action moments which make up for some of it's short commings. I just hope that if or when the sequel is released they will introduce elements of the back story from the cartoons.
