Euro Qualifiers 13th & 17th October **Spoilers**

I know, he needs a proper rest intstead of being rushed back all the time, he's probably partly to blame for that as well:)

I was about to say that, its all good and well being a 'lion' and playing through the pain but he's been injured on-off for a while now and if he doesn't get a proper rest and get all these problems behind him it could seriously damage the rest of his career.

Terry needs a long rest, he has not been the same since his back injury. And he's continually pushing himself back into fitness when he must know deep down he isn't ready.

If we lose now, i'll be blaming Jamie Carragher

:D I'll blame Ferdinand in advance then as he's bound to make a stupid mistake, he's not made one for 3-4 games so he's due 1 ;)
Which is fair :)

I thought you didn't even rate Carra  In fact didnt you say there were plenty of better English CB's than him a while back? If so surely he wouldn't have been in the side anyway :)

eekfek fully star that out mate.

As far as I remember I think everyone was in agreement (bar liverpool fans) that Terry, Ferdinand, Woodgate and King were ahead of Carragher in the pecking order. They're all out bar Ferdinand.

I don't recall any agreement about anything like that, there was a debate with me and Nokkon about Carra getting out paced where Gilly came along and went on about Carra being nothing more than a hoofer and a blocker and there were plenty English CB's better than him, which is why i don't understand his post.

And Woodgate and King being better that him :D Carra was better than Ferdinand and Terry last season too (not saying he's a better cb though), though Terry had injuries going against him.

If he did then he would be perfectly correct ;)

JT does need a rest. According to the radio tonight he is playing without a mask tomorrow night. Has a bit of bone floating round his knee and if it goes near the cartlidge it could damage it. He also needs an injection in his toe.

Crazy really as he could keep carrying the injuries and have something more serious and then miss out on the entire European Championships

I don't rate him and there are plenty of better English CBs than him. Unfortunately they're all struggling through injury. He's also played left back for us previously.

[edit]King is a better ball player than him and Woodgate is simply better at everything than him, unfortunately he can't stay fit.

Actually, saying I don't rate him is an inaccuracy. I don't dislike the guy and he can do the job set out for him very well. IE get in the way of the ball. He's just 5th or 6th choice thats all.

He got annoyed with that and jacked it in, which is his decision I suppose, but because of that we now have a largely unproven player in his place.

Carragher wouldn't play tomorrow anyway, it's far too cold for him over there.

What you suggesting JG ;)

Hes a very good defender but I think his ability to hold the ball or be comfortable on it gets exposed at international level

Wake up Loki, he's done his knee at the end of training today and is out :p

King is better on the ball but Carra is easily the better cb. I'll accpect that Woodgate is more talented a player and was better than him while at Leeds but he's done nothing since leaving Leeds; you could argue that was down to the injuries but he had a pretty much injury-free season with Boro and was no where near the player he was and is unlikely to get back to that level.

Back to the original point, so there are only 4 cb's you consider better than him and with 1 being a crocked for the last 4(?) years and 1 being average (and a crock) then thats hardly plenty. Oh and Carra's days of playing full-back are long gone, you could see that vs Brazil (i think it was them).

 Campbell is unproven?

Just in case you're talking about lb, Carra wouldn't have played there anyway and Shorey has played there before and done well so if McClaren does go with Lescott it wouldn't be because we've had to play him but because he chose to play him. (not too sure Carra has played lb for England either, he's played rb but lb?)

3.00pm on TalkSport was where I got that from. Five and half hours is a long time in football I guess

Yep, an hour before that news he had just passed a fitness test and was declared fit.

carragher has been the best english CH here and in europe for years and hes proved that consistantly at the highest level also anywhere in the back four,he's never lost his roots, has kept a low profile that the press cant invade and gets on with whats important .. its club and fans first , he doesnt crave the limelight and sets a truly fine example unlike other whinging CH's or drug takers .. aye . a fine example for kids to look upto

You can say all you want about ability but no one in this country has played as consistantly well as Carragher over the last 2 years, bar maybe Carvalho.
