Call of duty 4 demo out today?!

Yeah, happens with me too. Go into Activision > CoD4 > Players > Profiles > "Playername" > Config (open with wordpad) and use the "Find" tool to search for r_mode and simply put that to whatever res you want. Then save, and voila

Realy enjoyed it, very atmospheric - I realy want to pre-order it but I still have Bioshock to finsh and HL1+2 to do also. I should also proberly do CoD 2 first I suppose. So many games so little time.

alright then what am i doing wrong, i haven't been out of the fps loop for that long, but i can't get past the tank part, i run/hide around kill a few peeps then the tank gets overrun, tried about 6 or 7 times now

well theres basically 2 fronts to defend against, one to your left as you enter the field, and one ahead, get a good vantage point for both and start shooting! and throw lots of grenades.

It uses a modified quake 3 engine, IW gutted the engine for cod 2 and modified it more for lighting in cod 4.

Pacific assault also used a modded quake 3 engine which ea called proprietary.

Runs great maxed out at 1920x1080, no slow down at all, which is unbelievable for a game looking this good :p. The game its self however hasn't grabbed me at all. Don't think i'll be parting my money with this.

Gotta admit it does feel a bit dated now aye (gameplay), pretty nice visuals however.

Not gripped by it at all, I liked 2 back in late 2005 on the 360 but this just feels like an expansion pack, I may play through the campaign but UT3 and Gears Of War are for multiplayer. :)

Played this on my laptop in sig, this scales really well + only using an 8400GS
will be adding this to my list of games to buy, i enjoyed the demo :)

This my view on Cod 4 i dont like it theres to much going on and just does not seem real at all its to like arcade. to much background sounds over takes everything:(
Too me it feels a bit like Stranglehold without the slidy slidy and tequila time. The first COD got the whole spawn pre-scripted thing just right and now every sequel is getting more arcadey. At this rate the next one will have no reloading, platform jumping and hunting for easter eggs.

From the multiplayer demo on the 360 this is a deffo purchase for me, but still a large part of me wants to build a new pc so I can play it on that as I was really into the whole clan scene on cod 1 and 2 and would feel strange just playing it on live (which was excellent btw)

had a few blasts on this over the past few days and i really enjoyed it plus it runs absolutely great, all settings on highest @1680x1050.
Hehe me too. Downloaded it last night and had a few goes on this. I absolutely love this and will be getting it when it comes out. Could add it to my Birthday wish list as well. :D

I wasn't paying that much attention to COD4 as I really thought my PC wasn't quad-core'd, SLI'd and 4Gb RAM'd up enough to run this. So imagine my shock when I put it to 1680x1050 on max settings and game runs so smoothly.:eek: :D

well, its good ol' cod gameplay. which is good, but after being constantly exposed to such action and chaos, you kinda get immune to it all, and it no longer has the desired effect.

great game though, but as others have said, its pretty much identical to call of duty 2, and i only play that MP, so tbh i doubt ill be rushing to buy this. im sure it will find its way into my collection eventually though

Didn't quite like the demo, maybe it was just the level or something, the sp content they've shown off in trailers has had me a little me a little more hyped than the demo's offerings.

Still gonna get it I think, the 360 multiplayer was just too much fun too resist.

I downloaded this, was a little shocked when it turned out not to be set in ww2 :/

Yeah cod runs on modified quake engines, always has. Even the console commands are the same.

Very short demo, it was okay but felt too much like cod2. Cod 1 was excellent though.
