IGN PES 2008 REVIEW!!!

Well I've just looked at the Fifa review (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/826/826338p3.html) and I really don't see what you're on about. Fifa scores highler graphically as it does look better. Both score the same for sound, which in PES's case is correct (I have no idea about Fifa's sound so won't comment). The lifespan is greater for PES but that may simply be down to things like the Master League and the online side of things, where PES had a great community last year (though spoiled by the cheaters). I guess only time will tell if Fifa's online side will match it and whether that score will be right or wrong.

Edit: And I wouldn't expect the main site to have a review any time soon. America don't get Pro Evo, they get Winning Eleven and usually a few months after the UK version has been released.

Bit of disgrace that sound is the same for both games, FIFA's is far superior in game and in the soundtrack, I maybe proven wrong with the full game of PES mind but I highly doubt it!

This is good to hear, bought Fifa 2008 in the light that it maybe the better of the two this year. Looks like i will be getting this aswell, as Fifa's annoying me at the moment, the touch is great and the way the players control the ball is also excellent but the keepers are just TOO good. Its weird how if you use the right anologue stick to push the ball in front of you its always easier to beat the keeper than using the normal sprint function.

...we will see come the 26th!

Definatly loving the fact i can do manager mode tho with my beloved Leeds! Jermaine Beckford for the win!

Try telling Mr Men that ;)

Because the keepers are pathetic are dealing with balls in the air, is why I have a problem with it maybe? the AI always scores from looping headers over a goalie who stands and looks clever, any cross ball is a 80% chance of sailing 2 inches over the keepers head and onto the head of an attacker, long range shots they stand and look at it and react when then ball is 2cm from their face, or in most cases over their head and in the net. Now I watch a lot of football and very rarely do I see such poor goalkeeping. But keep the ball down below head hight and we have super-human goalies, you know the Runcorn keeper that can stop everything, no matter what, just dont put it above head hight LOL.

Review looks written by a fanboy really, looking forward to what Games and gamespot say about it.

Hopefully it should arrive tuesday or wednesday like last years so we can try for ourselves.

It surprised me too, Fifa commentary has always been good and EA games usually have decent soundtracks. I guess it's all down to personal preference though, the reviewer my like Eurotrash music :D

If past PES games are anything to go on about then the sound shouldn't be equal, Fifa has not only licensed music (as opposed to bleeding ear inducing Jazz 'music'), but it also has several correct team chants from the teams who are playing such as "We've won it 5 times.." at Liverpool matches, or "God save the Queen" at England matches. It's brilliant. It also has Martin Tyler on commentary.

And it also has Celtic songs being sung at Rangers games, quite stupid and kind of ruins it, if going to do it, do it right. Sound in a football game, meh not really something I consider worth reviewing.

It should, the atmosphere makes a great football match you get that atmosphere from great sound.

/sigh. There's always an answer to everything isn't there. Quite boring you can't find positives and negatives of a game.

How can I be negative about a game I have not played? that would be rather silly to me. And I do not think atmosphere makes a great game of football, on the pitch does, this thread is about Pro Evo, let's try and stay on topic shall we :)

Aye, it's one of the areas I know PES needs a huge improvement in. If they get that right, get the presentation right, and get all the teams licensed then it'll be the perfect footy game IMO.

its one of the reasons i cannot stand PES, the sound, along with the commentry, the non offical teams, fifa may not be perfect but PES isn't IMHO for me either and fifa for me is the best of a bad bunch. Yeah i know PES fans keep harping on about its not sound, real teams, this and that etc, etc, but at the end of the day i want a quick go on a football game that looks, plays, sounds real as possible

With that criteria Fifa is indeed perfect for you :) I want a game that plays as real as possible that will last me a year. That's why PES has always won it for me :)
